Love Island’s Olivia and Alex Bowen ‘planning baby two’ as soon as she turns 30

After welcoming their son Abel into the world six months ago, talk has already turned to baby number two for Olivia and Alex Bowen.

Revealing they’re planning to have their second once Olivia has turned 30, the Love Island couple exclusively spoke to OK! as they posed for an exclusive festive shoot at their home.

Olivia, 28, who turns 30 in January 2024, said: “I said to Alex yesterday: ‘What we’re going to do is have my 30th, have a party and then have another baby about March or April.’

“He was like: ‘How can you say that so casually? You struggled in pregnancy and you had a hard birth, who are you again?’”

Olivia endured a tough 30-hour labour with Abel, who had to be delivered via forceps and wasn't breathing when he first arrived.

Admitting her surprise at how she felt about wanting another baby after previously confessing she wasn’t maternal and wasn’t sure children were for her, she continued: “It’s really weird and I get such imposter syndrome sometimes as I don’t understand who this person is, as I was very vocal about the fact I wasn’t sure about being a mum.

“But I’ve got a really big heart so I think it was always inevitable, I just didn’t really admit it. We just waited until the time was right for us and I’m really glad we did.

“At first I kind of repelled it as I wanted to be this cool person and I don’t feel like her sometimes, but now I’ve leaned into it and realised it’s OK to be mum and you can be both.

“And to see Alex as a dad is so lovely. It’s what he always wanted and he never let me forget that.”

“I got my own way!” Alex, 31, told us with a laugh. “We want to enjoy the first two years with Abel and then we’ll think about number two and assess it.”

For Alex becoming a dad has come with its challenges, but he says he’s now settled into the role.

“At first it’s nerve-wracking when you come out of the hospital and you have to look after this little being. I drove 2mph the whole way home and I constantly watched him sleep, but as time goes on you get used to it and we’ve fallen into it naturally,” he said.

And Abel has already hit plenty of milestones and could be following in his dad’s footsteps, with Alex adding: “He smiles at everyone and he has his own little personality now.

“He already has two front teeth at the bottom and we think he’s going to be walking at nine months. That’s when I started walking and he’s already trying to pull himself up.”

He continues of the harder moments: “At the start, Olivia was breastfeeding and she was up all night and now he’s on the bottle I’m up all night. There are hard times. When it’s 2am and you’re so tired it’s hard, but then he smiles at you and it makes it all worth it.”
