Sir Cliff Richard, 81, dons Wimbledon’s famous colours as he entertains the crowd at centre court with an impromptu sing-a-long

Sir Cliff Richard entertained centre court spectators at Wembley on Sunday as he sung his hit Summer Holiday for the enthusiastic crowd.

The 81-year-old showed off his vocal range as she sang acapella encouraging the audience to join him waving their hands during the impromptu performance. 

The national treasure donned a smart piece suit for the occasion which was emblazoned with the tournament’s famous purple and green stripe.

The ensemble was decorated with gold buttons, which the Living Doll hitmaker layered over a crisp white shirt. 

Completing the look with a red rose in his lapel the singer wore his chestnut locks smarty parted to one side. 

Grasping the microphone firmly Cliff entertained from the Royal box as tennis fans cheered and sung along.

Centre Court hosted musical celebrations before a full day of tennis on middle Sunday for the first time to celebrate its centenary.

Veteran tennis broadcasters Sue Barker, John McEnroe and Clare Balding talked through 100 years of history on the court from 1.30pm, before British singer Freya Ridings performs to thousands of spectators.

The Royal box had been due to host Harry Potter author JK Rowling, but she pulled out last minute on Sunday morning because her companion, former tennis player Martina Navratilova, had contracted Covid, according to the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC).

A spokesperson said: ‘JK Rowling was going to be a guest of Martina Navratilova’s today, and unfortunately Martina’s agent has confirmed that Martina has Covid and is now unable to attend the royal box.’

An array of famous faces enjoyed the matches at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.

And leading the stars at the sporting event was Sienna Miller, 40, Daisy Edgar-Jones, 24.

Actress Sienna looked the epitome of chic in a white lace strapless dress, while exhibiting her cinched waist with a black belt.

Sienna opted for a bronzed makeup palette with a pink lip, while scraping her blonde locks back into a bun.

Daisy turned heads in an eye-catching satin yellow midi dress, teamed with cream heels while letting her brunette locks fall naturally to her shoulders.
