The ‘House of Payne’ creator has accidentally crashed his white Bentley into another vehicle when he was driving home from Burbank airport in Los Angeles recently.
AceShowbiz –Tyler Perry was involved in a car accident. The filmmaker was driving his white Bentley SUV from Burbank airport in Los Angeles, California on Wednesday night, December 15 when he collided with a black Honda Accord.
The car crash occurred in Sherman Oaks. The 52-year-old Hollywood mogul was on his way home when he accidentally t-boned the other car after the female driver cut across three lanes of traffic, causing her to block his way.
No serious injuries were reported although both vehicles were wrecked. The woman admitted to committing error and causing the accident. Police were at the scene but no arrest was made as the two parties agreed to handle the matter privately.
The director hasn’t made any comment about the car collision.
Back in 2012, Tyler Perry accused Atlanta police officers of racial profiling after he was pulled over for making a left turn from a right lane. The cops allegedly acted hostilely during the traffic stop. He was finally let go after a black officer arrived and recognized him.
He was driving without his usual security detail back then and tried to explain to the cops that he made the maneuver to ensure he wasn’t being followed, but the officers were skeptical. “Why do you think someone is following you? What’s wrong with you?” they repeatedly asked him.
When one of them ordered him to put his foot on the brake and reached for his key, he tried to be helpful because the cop mistook the on/off switch for the car’s key.
“I reached down into the cup holder to get the key, not realizing that the key had a black leather strap on it. As I grabbed it they both tensed up and I dropped it as I heard my mother’s voice from when I was a little boy,” he recalled.
“My mother would always say to me, ‘If you get stopped by the police, especially if they are white policemen, you say ‘yes sir’ and ‘no sir,’ and if they want to take you in, you go with them. Don’t resist, you hear me? Don’t make any quick moves, don’t run, you just go.’ “
Knowing that things could “have turned for the worse,” he said, “At this point, I told him that I wanted to get out of the car. I wanted the passersby to see what was happening.”
