This Military Cemetery is home to over 5,000 graves of men and women soldiers from the Commonwealth, and Czechoslovakia, America, France, Italy, Poland, and Belgium.

The countess looked beautiful in a long, simple white dress with chic white Penelope Chilvers wedge sandals.

Sophie slicked her long, straight hair back with her accompanying sunglasses as she honoured the fallen.

She also wore simple silver earrings which worked so perfectly with her attire as they glistened in the sun.

The countess’s necklace was very long, as it extended halfway down her chest with a white coloured pendant attached.

Sophie completed the outfit with a cream coloured Sophie Habsburg clutch bag which she held close to her throughout the solemn occasion.

The Duke of Kent also looked dashing wearing a smart suit for the occasion.
He paired it with a navy blue tie adorned with white spots and a matching pocket hanky.

To prevent the sun from becoming too unbearable the Duke wore a straw hat which looked very charming.

Along with the Duke of Kent, the two laid wreaths at the Stone of Remembrance to honour the Commonwealth personnel who died in the UK as well as overseas.

Their Royal Highnesses were greeted to a tour of the cemetery, meeting staff and volunteers to learn about the stories of the Commonwealth men and women soldiers who are commemorated at Brookwood.

The Duke of Kent has served as President of the Commonwealth War Graves for over 50 years.

Sophie, the Countess of Wessex is Patron of the Java Far East Prisoners of War Club, explaining why she accompanied the Duke of Kent on this trip.

Brookwood Military Cemetery is the largest of its kind in the UK.

The royals visited the Canadian Plot, the Italian Plot, and the Muslim Plot before being given a stonemasonry demonstration.

The Director General of CWGC, Claire Horton CBE, said: “It has been an honour to welcome our President The Duke of Kent, and The Countess of Wessex, to pay tribute to some of the men and women who gave their all, and meet the staff and volunteers at CWGC who help preserve their legacy.

“Brookwood Military Cemetery is our largest site in the UK, and it serves as a reminder of the truly international sacrifice that was given during the World Wars.

“Men and women from across the world who paid the ultimate sacrifice are commemorated here, and it was a privilege to be joined by Their Royal Highnesses to share some of those stories.”

A royal fan wrote: “You can’t help but be impressed by the Countess of Wessex and the way she goes about her work.

“Like the Duchess of Cambridge, she’s class and dignity personified.”

Another commented: “Beautiful, love them together and what a touching engagement this was.”

This engagement took place in preparation for VJ Day next month.
