Cleaning fan reveals easy hack to dry clothes faster and leave them smelling fresher inside the house during winter

IF YOU thought about packing away your electrical fan now that summer has bid goodbye for another year, then you might want to think again.

A cleaning fan has shared their very simple and very easy hack that will dry your clothes faster and leave them smelling fresher inside the house during the winter months – and it involves your trusty fan.

Given the unpredictable weather during winter, you'll more than likely be relying on a clothes horse to dry your clothes after washing them until temperatures start heating up again.

Hanging your laundry on a clothes horse can be a pain, especially as it can take forever for clothes to dry, but one TikTok user has shared the trick they swear by to speed up the process.

Cleaning guru @geo.cleans insists that using a desktop fan alongside a clothes horse will reduce humidity, meaning any washing hanging up will dry faster.

They demonstrated the method in a video shared online that has since been watched over 1.1million times.

The fan is positioned on the windowsill right by where the clothes horse has been set up, with the direction of the wind blowing towards it.

"If you rely on drying your clothes using a clothes horse, listen up," they explained.

"Instead of waiting hours for your clothes to dry, just use a desktop fan. By circulating the air, you reduce the humidity around the clothes, which dries your clothes faster."

Not only will clothes dry faster, but using a fan in this way, they claim, will also prevent the laundry from developing a musty smell.

The cleaning fan added that positioning the fan above a radiator will speed up the process, as it will blow warm air towards the clothes horse.

"You'll never have to deal with foisty smelling clothes again," they insisted, as they captioned their video: "Drying clothes in winter is a pain, hopefully this will help!"

Thousands were seen commenting on the post, keen to try the trick out for themselves.

"Thanks, just moved into my new flat and having to use an airer. I'll have to do this next time, especially with winter coming," said one person.

Another commented: "Why have I never thought of this?!"

A third wrote: "We do this too! Dries everything in under an hour," before hitting back at those claiming it would rack up a huge electricity bill, as they added: "Also why do people think it's expensive? It's literally 15p a day."

Others shared their own advice, with one person suggesting: "After a wash cycle I always do an extra spin in winter, makes hell of a difference."

One more offered: "If you have a curtain rail in a room, hang the clothes on hangers and then o the rail, open the window and they dry a lot quicker."
