I let my kids draw all over the walls, people ask why I don’t get a blackboard but I don’t want chalk dust everywhere | The Sun

A MUM revealed that she allows her children to draw on the walls in their home and will never get them a chalkboard instead, as it would be messy and unpleasant.

Mum Linzy lets her autistic three-year-old son Harrison draw on walls in the house because he “loves art” and it is “his form of communication”.

She often talks about her son’s artwork on her Tiktok, but frequently receives unsolicited advice from people who tell her she shouldn’t allow her children to draw on walls.

Many people have advised Linzy to get a blackboard for the children or to make a chalk wall, but the mum doesn’t want to and she explained why in a recent clip.

She said: “Have we thought about doing a chalk wall for him instead? This is probably one of the questions we get asked the most. The answer is no.

“We don’t like chalk, we don’t like the texture, we don’t want chalk dust in the carpet, we also don’t want to deal with dry erase markers or chalk paint all over our bedding.”

The mum said she can’t understand why other people care so much about her walls.

She continued: “We’re using washable crayons. I don’t know why people make such a big deal about my walls – because they are mine – but also if we wanted to change them, Harrison’s dad is a painter.”

The video racked up over 300,000 likes and while some commenters supported the mum, others were still critical of her allowing her children to draw on the walls.

“POV: you can’t say ‘no’”, said one critical viewer, and another said: “It’s filthy looking.”

Another agreed: “It’s washable, his dad is a painter, it’s not your walls, it looks to be in the basement where not everyone can see, y’all making me mad, what’s the deal??”

“She’s adapting to her child’s needs, what more could you ask from a mother? You’re doing amazing”, added another.

And a fourth said: “I don’t understand why adults get upset over kids expressing creativity on wider canvasses.”

Linzy is not the first parent to go viral – recently another mum took the internet by storm after revealing she lets her kids play on their filthy floor.

Being a parent is no easy task, especially if you have two young kids, one of whom is a baby.

And whilst usually people try their best to not judge others's parenting, one mum has been slammed online after sharing a video of her little girl dragging her fourth-month-old brother on filthy floor.

The clip, shared by Emily Boazman, believed to be from the US, has gone viral on TikTok and has raised millions of eyebrows across the platform.

In the video, which has been viewed over 1.6million times in just two days, Emily could be seen filming her two kids playing on the floor of their living room.

But although it might sound innocent, it's the way the siblings were playing that got everyone talking – the four-year-old daughter was dragging her baby brother across the dirty room by his feet.

Here, rather than stepping in, Emily kept on recording the moment, which she seemed to find amusing.

''Guess what birth order she is,'' the mum chuckled in the caption.

However, social media users did not seem to think the situation was funny – thousands slammed Emily for ''horrible parenting''.

Not only were people perplexed that she didn't do something about it, many also pointed out to the bits of rubbish on the filthy carpet.

''More concerned about the 55 choking hazards all over the floor,'' one person commented.

Someone else wondered: ''This is ok with you because.. ?''

Another agreed, adding: ''And that’s how you pull and arm or leg out of socket.''

A mum warned: ''my daughter did this and gave my son carpet burn on tha back of his head.

''I showed her how to pull in on a blanket to move him instead.''

After going viral for all the wrong reasons, Emily took to TikTok to hit back at everyone and explain her point of view.

''My last video got so much hate…

''A lot of the comments are from, like, 50 or 60-year-old ladies.

''I can't imagine my mum who is in her sixties taking her time to comment on videos like this. Like never – she couldn't care less.''

With the baby in her arms, Emily then addressed the messy state of the property, claiming they had only purchased it a week ago and we're in the process of transforming it fully.

''We don't live there. So, the girls play there while we remodel, he sits in his mamaroo and watches me and my husband work.''

On the day the clip was being filmed, one of the daughters had played with toilet paper, which then was left on the dirty carpet shredded in pieces.

''So we were about to leave and I laid him in the room – away from all the toilet paper cause I am very cautious about choking.''

As Emily stepped outside to get the car seat for the baby, his big sister started dragging him all around the room – and Emily began recording the moment.

''They are very careful with him, they're never allowed to just pick him up.

''They can't pull his arms because they can go out of a socket; legs are way stronger,'' Emily reckoned.
