I make thousands buying and wrapping people's Christmas presents – I start in August and get through hundreds every day

THIS mum-of-two is like a real-life Santa as she buys, wraps and delivers gifts for a living.

Brenna Nichols, 44, is responsible for 1000 gifts this year for strangers who pay her up to £35 an hour to do their shopping for them.

She started the business five years ago, and works with clients from her Stateside home in Illinois, discussing who the gift is for, before sending them a list of ideas to choose from.

While Christmas is her busiest time of year, she is busy the rest of year with birthdays, anniversaries, and even large scale projects like party planning.

But Brenna describes the Christmas period as her "Super Bowl".

"I start in August for my repeat clients, most of them I've been working with for five years since I started," she told Caters News.

"I get to know them pretty well, and I know their families well too.

"Their my clients first, but they all become my friends because I'm so wound into their lives.

"Gifts are all about a personal connection between people, so being involved in that is amazing."

Brenna first started the business helping her friends out wrapping gifts.

"I used to work in marketing, and the part of it that I loved was connecting with people," she explained.

"I left that job when I had my first son, Fisher, who is now 11, and I wanted something to do.

"I love wrapping presents, and my mum Sally loved to wrap she had a whole room for it when I was younger.

"We redesigned our house a few years ago and we were able to add a little wrapping room too.

"One year, I had finished my wrapping for the year, and I asked my friends if they needed any help, and everyone jumped at it.

"That's when I thought that it could become a business."

Brenna has done everything from stuffing Easter eggs for people, moving their Elves for Elf on the Shelf, putting wreaths up, and whatever else they need.

"This has been such a big joy for my life, like sometimes it's just a something, but usually it means so much more," she grinned.

"I help people express themselves through gifting, and I can start at any part of the process.

"If someone just want me to wrap something, I do that, but what I love to do is go through the whole process with someone.

"Usually people come to me with a gifting situation, so obviously at this time of year it's Christmas, but it could be a birthday, anniversary, whatever.

"They tell me about the person they want to surprise, and give me a budget, and we go from there."

And Brenna also sorts out gifts for her own family.

"I'm pretty organised, I love details and logistics and that kind of thing," she said.

"I always make sure my family and my kids are done, usually by November, so there's no worry for me there.

"My family are great, they'll come and bring me snacks and fill up my water bottle while I'm working away."
