SOMETIMES a restaurant’s meal is so good, you can’t help but wish you could make it at home – and apparently, you can.
A cooking guru on TikTok revealed exactly how to get the crispy crusts on meat served by steakhouses – and the results are mouth-watering.
“How do fancy steakhouses get such incredible crusts on their steaks?
“Well, I'm here to help you out,” Jack Mancuso said at the top of a video shared on his popular TikTok page.
“First off, you want to use an aggressive amount of salt; take out that moisture from the steak and salt it a decent amount of time beforehand,” he explained.
“You also have to cook the steaks over something very, very hot.
“I let my cast iron get over 500 degrees before I start to sear,” he noted, adding that sometimes his skillet reaches up to 700 degrees.
“Another helpful tip is to use thick steak so it doesn’t overcook when you’re searing it at such high temperatures,” he said.

Jack seared a steak as he explained the process, and the result looked delicious.
His steak was pink on the inside and had a crispy-looking sear on the outside.
Jack’s followers were intrigued by his cooking tips, and he took the time to answer several of their questions.
In response to one viewer who was concerned about burning seasoning when searing steak, Jack replied that steak should only have salt on it when searing it at such high temperatures.
He then told another user that garlic, butter, and other seasonings can be added to the steak afterward.
He also joked around with users who were concerned about how much smoke the cooking process created.
“I know ur smoke detector putting in overtime,” one user joked, with Jack replying “Facts” with a laughing emoji.
Jack isn’t the only one to share his steak cooking expertise online.
