Kate Middleton, 40, travelled in a car beside Queen Camilla today for the Procession to Lying-in-State from Buckingham Palace. The Princess of Wales wore the late Queen’s Diamond and Pearl Leaf brooch for the occasion. This brooch has only been worn by the former Duchess of Cambridge once, and this was in Belgium in 2017.
A sombre Princess of Wales looked elegant as she donned an ebony coat dress and a traditional mourning veil.
The veil was crafted from black netting for the occasion.
Holding her composure, the mother-of-three looked effortlessly elegant in the all-black ensemble.
This was in adherence with royal mourning protocol.
Prince William looked equally smart in military attire.
The poignant event was also attended by the Queen’s children Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward.
Her grandchildren Prince Harry, Zara Tindall, Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, Lady Louise Windsor and Peter Phillips were also in attendance.
Kate’s large brooch is composed of three leaves, each of which is outlined in yellow gold.
A sizeable mabe pearl is positioned at the centre of each leaf, which is finished with a scattering of small diamonds.
The brooch was a sweet nod to her husband Prince William’s late grandmother.
The rarely-seen accessory was previously worn by the Queen during her visit to South Korea in 1999.
In 2017, Kate donned the eye-catching brooch during a visit to Belgium for the 100th anniversary of Passchendaele.
It has remained in her jewellery box ever since.
