The Range’s £2 ‘Bikini body’ weight loss plaque slammed by shoppers who say it ‘makes women feel unworthy’

A HIGH street store has been accused of shaming women for selling a ‘bikini body’ weight loss plaque.

The Range has come under fire after they advertised their weight loss plaques on Facebook as a great way to “keep your motivation going”.

One is in the shape of a set of scales, on sale for £3.49, and the other a bikini, selling for £2.29.

The goal is to pop a pound coin in the slot for every pound in weight you lose, so by the time you've lost 1st 9lbs you'll have saved £23.

The description online says: “Turning lbs into £'s, the Counting Down The Pounds Plaque will help you to save money while you lose weight.

“Imitating a bikini body or bathroom scales with 23 or 30 circular slots, you can place a coin in it for every pound you lose and treat yourself with the money when you reach your goal.”

But people have criticised the store for selling the product, with shoppers claiming every body is already “bikini ready”.

One person commented: “Toxic message, every body is a bikini body and people shouldn’t be sold into rewarding themselves with their own money for losing weight.”

And another said: “I’d be pinching those pound coins out when we’re low on takeaway delivery cash.”

A third said: “Stop making women feel unworthy.

“It’s not ok some people cannot lose weight through medical reasons and it’s heart wrenching.”

Another simply said: “Surely all bodies are bikini bodies?”
