Seventeen furious brides have claimed that a wedding singer ruined their special day by either being a no show or cancelling last minute using a catalogue of excuses.
Charlotte Hadley, from Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, had booked an acoustic wedding singer for her big day in Ibiza in September 2022.
The 38-year-old was such a big fan that when financial manager husband Rob, 34, proposed in October 2020, she booked him to sing the same week and forked out £1,000 upfront.
Weeks before the big day, the singer called the salon owner saying he’d lost his passport and couldn’t get to his appointment at the passport office because someone had been hit by a train.
Eight days before the wedding a furious Charlotte says she told the performer not to bother going to Ibiza, leaving her scrambling to find entertainment for her big day.

Charlotte shared her experience on Facebook where she claims 16 other brides reached out to her to say the singer had cancelled performing at their weddings due to friends suffering from cancer, suicides and car crashes.
The singer says he didn’t want to leave Charlotte ‘high and dry’ and offered to help her find another musician even though his passport had turned up in time and he could have made the wedding.
The singer, who is known for writing personalised songs about couples, says he knows he’s ‘let a lot of people down’ and his ‘communication skills are horrendous’ but his reasons were ‘legitimate’.
Charlotte said: ‘[The singer] has a brilliant voice. I planned the wedding around him, the venue, everything.
‘The closer we got, something wasn’t right. He called and my heart dropped and he said he’d lost his passport.
‘I went into panic mode. I was absolutely seething.
‘I either risked not having anyone at all or cancelled. I was too angry to call. I text saying it was best that we cancel because I couldn’t run the risk of him not turning up on the day.
‘Would I have had to ask these people who had flown over from England to plug their phones in and play some tunes? My gut feeling told me he wasn’t going to come.’

Charlotte and Rob still had an incredible wedding day and were able to find a last minute replacement for the singer
Charlotte alleges that two weeks after her own wedding, her planner reached out to her to let her know that the singer had cancelled on another one of her clients two days before their special day due to a friend suffering from cancer.
Although the performer said it’s true he cancelled a performance due to someone being diagnosed with cancer, he doesn’t ‘want to talk about other people or play the sympathy card’.
Sixteen brides have since reportedly contacted Charlotte saying they’d also been let down by the musician who they claim used reasons such as finding his neighbour dead.
The singer says he ‘can’t remember’ if there was another wedding he was supposed to attend two weeks after Charlotte’s and he can’t recall ever failing to turn up to a wedding without letting the bride and groom know.
Charlotte said: ‘It’s the most important day of people’s lives. I want to call him out because I don’t want any bride to go through the weeks worth of tears I did and ruin the run up the wedding.

‘If you work in the wedding industry, you turn up no matter what. One of these reasons could be plausible, but not all of them.’
One bride wrote: ‘Just a warning. Do not book [name redacted]. He will take your money and ignore you. He took our money and didn’t turn up to our wedding.’
Another said: ‘I was another bride he let down. Booked August 2021 for my wedding in April 2022, just ghosted me. Took four weeks to get a refund.’
A third added: ‘He never turned up to my friend’s wedding in December.’
A wedding photographer wrote: ‘So I did a wedding where he contacted the bride the morning of the wedding and told her that his next door neighbour who was also a very close friend had been found dead (they think suicide) and he couldn’t attend the wedding.’

The singer says he’s no longer taking bookings because it became ‘too much work wise’ but has a few more weddings to perform at before giving up altogether.
In a statement, the singer said: ‘It’s a horrible one because there’s quite a few people I’ve let down.
‘I had lost my passport but I’m not sure when. In January I’d been given a one year passport because I’d lost so many times so I didn’t think they were going to even give me one.
‘I was concerned it wouldn’t turn up in time. I’ve got proof of my passport appointment booking and my passport was issued in September.
‘It’s nonsense that there wasn’t an issue on my train line because there was.
‘I got my passport and I messaged Charlotte saying it was here by which point she cancelled and got upset.

‘I sent her a photo of my passport, she said she couldn’t sit back and wait which is understandable. I would have loved to have gone to an Ibiza wedding.
‘I offered to find her a replacement for the music myself. I didn’t want to leave her high and dry and I wouldn’t have because my passport turned up. She got refunded and everything as well.
‘It sounds like I’m making excuses, in people’s eyes it won’t make a difference. Someone was diagnosed with cancer. I don’t want to talk about other people. I don’t want people to think I’m playing the sympathy card.
‘For various reasons my communication skills are horrendous sometimes.
‘Some weddings I’ve been late to, I don’t know if there’s 16 people I’ve cancelled on. There has been legitimate reasons. I’ve lost two really important people.
‘I don’t do this anymore, I stopped taking bookings a while ago because it got a bit too much work wise.
‘I’m worried that everyone I have booked in will start panicking that I won’t turn up. I’m doing weddings non-stop.
‘I can’t remember why I didn’t turn up on the day. I don’t remember not turning up and not having any contact with them at all.’
In April last year it was reported that another couple took the singer to court to claim a refund of £1,365 after he failed to write and perform a song at their wedding.
