Cheryl Burke: I’m the ultimate ‘DWTS’ dance mom coaching Cody Rigsby

Cody Rigsby, a standout Peloton instructor who landed a spot on the current season of “Dancing With the Stars,” has tested positive for COVID-19, he revealed Thursday.

This is the second time he’s tested positive for the virus in 2021.

“While I am fully vaccinated and took many precautions, following CDC guidelines, I recently tested positive for COVID19,” the 34-year-old shared on Instagram. “To properly rest and recover as well as avoid exposing others, I will be taking a break in the coming days. I appreciate all your support and I’ll be back as soon as I am ready.”

Rigsby added within the video that his symptoms thus far include congestion and a mild headache.

Four days prior, his dancing partner, Cheryl Burke, announced that she also tested positive for COVID-19.

“I feel so bad. I feel so bad for Cody. I feel like I’m letting him down. I just feel like s–t,” she said of partner Rigsby at the time.

“It’s so overwhelming because it’s Sunday and the show’s tomorrow. I figured I should let you guys know since I’ve been as open and as a real and as vulnerable as I could be here,” Burke continued. “I just hope I didn’t spread it. For those of you who don’t think COVID is a real thing, it’s f–king real, dude.”

The pair having been in close contact prior to Burke’s diagnosis indicates that she could’ve possibly passed the virus on to Rigsby, though that hasn’t been confirmed.

Before the fitness instructor’s diagnosis, plans were put in place for Burke to coach him via Zoom as she recovered.

Reps for ABC and Cheryl Burke did not immediately return our request for comment.
