Gwyneth Paltrow faces backlash after sharing her 'wellness' routine

‘Is STARVING really wellness?’ Self-styled health guru Gwyneth Paltrow is SLAMMED after sharing ‘daily wellness routine’ that consists of fasting, bone broth, vegetables, IVs, and an HOUR of exercise

  • Gwyneth Paltrow featured on The Art of Being Well podcast with Dr. Will Cole
  • The Goop founder, 50, sparked outrage with her comments about her routine
  • Dozens of social media users rushed to question her definition of ‘wellness’

Gwyneth Paltrow has sparked furious backlash after sharing her lengthy ‘daily wellness routine’ and revealing her diet consists of just bone broth and vegetables.

The Goop founder, 50, has sent the internet into a frenzy following her interview with Dr. Will Cole for The Art of Being Well podcast earlier this week.

She touched on a series of topics – including keyboard warriors and ‘conscious uncoupling’ – but it was her comments about her routine and diet that caused the biggest upset.

Dozens of social media users rushed to question her definition of ‘wellness’ as registered dieticians also urged people to ‘stop listening to celebrities.’

As part of the hour-long podcast, which was released on March 12, Gwyneth was asked: ‘What does your wellness routine look like right now?’

Her answer was snipped into a 40-second clip which was then uploaded to the podcast network’s own TikTok account.

In it, the actress says: ‘I eat dinner early in the evening. I do a nice intermittent fast.

‘I usually eat something about 12 and in the morning I have things that won’t spike my blood sugar so I have coffee.

‘But I really like soup for lunch. I have bone broth for lunch a lot of the days. Try to do one hour of movement, so I’ll either take a walk or I’ll do Pilates or I’ll do my Tracy Anderson.

‘And then I dry brush and I get in the sauna. So I do my infrared sauna for 30 minutes and then for dinner I try to eat according to paleo – so lots of vegetables.’

She concluded: ‘It’s really important for me to support my detox.’

But the clip, which has been viewed more than 1.8 million times and received 13.2 thousand comments, was met with fierce backlash.

One shocked user wrote: ‘Is starving wellness?’

Another added: ‘I feel light headed just listening to this.’

And a third simply said: ‘I relate to nothing in this video.’

However, the criticism did not stop there as professional dietitians also weighed in with their own thoughts.

Lauren Cadillac, based in Hoboken, New Jersey, created a duet with the clip on the video sharing platform to share her reaction to Gwyneth’s revelations.

In it, the nutritionist repeatedly rolls her eyes, shakes her head, and gasps before claiming ‘bone broth is not a meal.’

She concludes: ‘This is not enough food. Support you detox from WHAT?! You’re not eating anything.

Lauren uploaded her clip with a caption that read: ‘This isn’t #wellness this is DISORDERED. THIS IS NOT ENOUGH FOOD especially for someone that is 5’9’.

‘Please stop following and listening to celebrities for your health and wellness advice.’

Gwyneth had begun recording the podcast with an IV drip still in her arm.

Acknowledging the IV, she said: ‘I’m really embarrassing myself right here. I love an IV, I’m an early IV adopter.’

The actress revealed that her favorites were Glutathione and Phosphatidylcholine, adding: ‘They’re quite hard to find, and those make me feel so good.’

Host Dr. Will Cole described the IV as ‘so on-brand for both of us,’ adding: ‘We pod and IV at the same time.’

Gwyneth and Cole have been fast friends for many years.

Cole refers to himself as ‘Dr.’ which would lead many to presume he went to medical school.

But, in actuality, the functional medicine practitioner has a doctorate of chiropractic from Southern California University of Health Sciences, a private school that focuses on alternative medicine.

His book, ‘Intuitive Fasting,’ was the first to be published by Goop Press as part of the lifestyle brand’s publishing partnership with Rodale Books.

Writing in the foreword, Gwyneth wrote: ‘Of all the different ways of eating I’ve tried on over the years – from macrobiotic to vegan to I’ll-spare-you-the-details cleanses – here is what has worked for me: eating intuitively.

‘When I eat what feels right to me, I feel my best.’

Elsewhere in the podcast, Gwyneth also revealed that the weirdest wellness procedure she had ever done was rectal ozone therapy which sees the powerful gas is delivered via catheter into the colon.

She said: ‘I have used ozone therapy, rectally. Can I say that? It’s pretty weird. It’s pretty weird, yeah. But it’s been very helpful.’

Benefits of rectal ozone therapy are said to be reduced pain and inflammation, increased energy, improved metabolism and circulation, stimulated immune system, detoxification, anti-aging, and fighting bacterial and viral infections.
