‘I’m leaving my husband and kids for my online lover — but they say he’s a scam’

A mum-of-four left Dr Phil viewers stunned after she confessed to having an online affair with a younger man and was prepared to abandon her family for him.

Sarah and Keith, both in their 40s, had been married for almost 18 years when he found out she was texting other men behind his back. But his heart was left truly broken when she filed for divorce in 2017 to pursue a man she had never met before.

The wife had been chatting online to 26-year-old Kenyan man, Kevin Ondieki and claims she fell "madly in love" with him despite the long-distance between them. Infact, the woman was so infatuated with her virtual toy boy, she was willing abandon her family and move to thousands of miles to marry him and start a new life.

Describing her online lover, she said: "When I ‘met’ Kevin, I was really taken with his gentleness. When he texted me, he smothered me in love. He called me ‘baby’ and ‘queen’. He made me feel special."

Kevin told Sarah that he ran an orphanage and was a pastor to the children, with the pair texting and video calling everyday. Her family refuted these claims as they believe Kevin is a scammer.

Local media reported that Kevin’s own father, Pastor Cosmas Ondieki reinforced the family's concerns as he says his son does not run any orphanage and has never been a pastor. However, Kevin wasn’t the first online relationship Sarah engaged in.

The mum had also been involved with man named Eric from Ghana while still in a relationship with Keith. But she insists the first affair "just fizzled out" and the pair are still friends.

However, it was from this relationship that her digital infidelity spiralled out of control as she revealed it was because “intimacy was never great” with her husband.

Keith and the rest of Sarah’s family desperately tried to convince her that she was making a huge mistake with her plans to move to Kisii, Kenya on US talk show Dr Phil. To which, Sarah responded: "If it doesn’t work out, I can just come back to you."

Dr Phil McGraw asked Sarah to try a 90 day challenge of working on her marriage with Keith before making the huge move in pursuit of a treacherous relationship.
