Inside Kerry Katona’s weight loss journey as she ‘sheds half a stone in a week’

Former Atomic Kitten singer Kerry Katona has proudly opened up about her recent weight loss journey after she dropped more than half a stone in the space of just one week.

The 42 year old star, who has been documenting her weight loss journey online for the past few months, revealed the surprising loss was down to following one specific diet. Initially weighing over 13 stone when she began her weight loss journey, Kerry pledged to physically improve her health by giving her diet and exercise routine a complete overhaul.

Since then, she has been a regular face in her local gym and has delighted her fans by documenting her progress – without filters or any fancy editing.

By keeping it real, Kerry hoped to show regular men and women the process that went into crafting her new figure, in the hopes of inspiring them to be proud of their own bodies and not fixated on the typical Instagram physique.

Opening up about her journey in her recent OK!Column, Kerry explained how she had slimmed back down into her size 12 jeans thanks to a special diet.

She said: "I've lost 8lb in a week, and I'm back in my size 12 jeans! I feel amazing. It's all thanks to the FrancisDiet, plus working out with my fitness brand M-Fit."

Initially introduced to the diet by close pal Carla Fishwick, who previously lost a whopping 6st and 9lbs in a year while following the same diet, Kerry revealed the truth about the meal plan as she kept herself accountable.

Describing Scott Francis, the creator of the 'Francisdiet' as "an absolute genius", the mum-of-five explained the diet itself involved a lot of personal responsibility, including preparing all of her own meals in advance from scratch. While on the diet, Scott provides his clients with a personalised eating plan and a tailored exercise regime, which sometimes even requires followers to workout three times a day.

Although this does mean regular trips to the gym, it also features plenty of home workouts too – something Kerry has shared with fans over the past few months. "I've also been doing home workouts, which are great for when you have lots on," she told OK!

True to her word, Kerry even shared a glimpse of one of her workouts back in March, when she shared an unfiltered and raw display of her working out at home in her underwear.

Warning her fans that it wasn't "a pretty sight", Kerry exposed the vulnerable side of weight loss as she admitted: "I know it's not a pretty sight but it's real!!! I feel extremely vulnerable by posting that video, but I'm also sick of all these b****y filters."

It was this video that struck a chord with many of the singer's followers, who swiftly commended her for her authenticity while highlighting what a "normal" body can often look like.

It wasn't the first time Kerry had opened up about her weight either, as the star has always been vocal about her fluctuating size over the years. In order to maintain her slim figure, Kerry had previously undergone two tummy-tucks and liposuction in the past, but has since revealed she feels so much happier to be transforming her body in a healthier way this time around.
