My bestie flirts with me but only when he's drunk – could he be secretly gay | The Sun

DEAR DEIDRE: MY best friend has offered to maybe have sex with me – but only if drunk.

I’m a gay man who is out and have had lots of flings but there is no one special in my life.

My friend is 27 and I’ve always fancied him. I’m 25 and we met at university.

He is lovely and handsome and I always thought it would suit him to be gay, but he’s said he’s straight and he’s had lots of girlfriends.

We met for a night out after his recent relationship ended. After plenty of drinks, he started moaning: “Nobody will ever match up to her.”

I hugged him and said he’d find somebody else.

The hug almost turned into a kiss but not quite – he seemed to sober up and stopped.

He then said that he thought the world of me and that he’d like to have sex with me – but not immediately. He said: “Ask me the next time I’m drunk.”

We’ve arranged to go out again next week and I’m excited but confused.

Is he a closet gay?

DEIDRE SAYS:  He could be but what’s clear is that he isn’t ready to come out.

He may be straight, he may love you as a friend, or he may be gay. It’s difficult to know.

Find a moment when you’re sober to be clear to him that you love him as a friend and don’t want to get hurt.

He may be able to reassure you about his intentions, one way or another.
