Neighbours star reveals how show will be 'even better' when it comes back

Alan Fletcher has promised that Neighbours will be ‘even better’ than before once it makes its highly-anticipated return on Amazon Freevee.

The popular soap was controversially axed by Channel 5 last year in favour of ‘original UK drama’, which the broadcaster claimed there was a strong appeal for at the time.

Freevee, however, proved to be the good friends we were all in need of, with the steaming service resuscitating the beloved Aussie serial just months after it came to an end with a star-studded ‘finale’, featuring Kylie Minogue and Guy Pearce.

With production slated to commence in April, fans can expect new episodes of Neighbours at some point in the second half of the year, and it’s safe to say that the excitement is real.

Alan, who plays Karl Kennedy on the long-running show, has given fans a little taste of what to expect when the show stages it’s comeback, promising that it will be ‘even better’ than before.

‘I was reflecting on this with Jackie [Woodburne] the other day,’ he said on UTV Life during a visit to Northern Ireland during the Neighbours Celebration Tour, which Metro.co.uk were lucky enough to attend (read our review here).

‘I’ve been doing this show for 28 years, the show’s been going for 37 years.

‘It changed over that time, the production values increased. But now we get to do a re-do.

‘It’ll still be the same show, but we will be able to make it even better. I think this next season is gonna be incredibly exciting.’
