Physical therapist says back pain can be eased by sleeping on spine with pillows

A back pain expert has shown a way to relieve debilitating aches by sleeping in a special way with pillows so you don't move onto your side in the night.

In a video he uploaded on his @markhuntsingerptTikTok channel, physical therapist Mark explains how to sleep on your spine.

Demonstrating the technique with four pillows, he says: "Lie on your back.

"Make sure you tuck the pillow [under your head] around both shoulders to prevent your head rolling to the side during sleep.

"Your forehead should be slightly higher than your chin

"Use a big soft pillow under your knee to try and take pressure off your lower back."

He then positions a pillow under each arm and explains: "Use one or two pillows under your elbows to prevent your shoulders from pulling on your neck.

"All of these pillows should make you very comfortable and they can be the same pillows you use to sleep on your side if you do both."

The Los Angeles-based physical therapist has had more than 15 million views on the video since he uploaded it and many people were grateful for the sleeping suggestion.

One person commented: "That is very useful."

"Trying that tonight," said a second user.

Someone else who appears to be a fan of the method wrote: "I have six pillows and only sleep on my back.

"I can never sleep sideways and also do use a pillow for my calves."

The video was also inundated with people claiming that sleeping on your back gives you nightmares or even sleep paralysis.

"Great way to be comfortable while inducing night terrors or the lady in black to pay you a visit," said one.

Another user commented: "WHY every time I sleep like this facing up I have a bad dream?"
