With Christmas just around the corner, the Royal Mail is understandably experiencing delays. While the postal service is doing their best to keep their service up to speed, they have updated customers on the areas which are currently affected.
Air
The Royal Mail explained they had “capacity issues” at Stanstead airport which meant “not all mail was able to travel on the scheduled flight to Edinburgh and was transported via the surface network”.
As a result, some mail posted yesterday in London, the South of England and Northern Ireland, due for delivery today in Central and Southern Scotland, may arrive later than expected.
Rail
The rail network operated to schedule over the last 24-hours.
Road
A high volume of mail has delayed the departure of vehicles leaving the Princess Royal Distribution Centre in London.
As a result, some mail posted yesterday in London and the South East, due for delivery this week in other parts of the UK, may arrive later than planned.
The high volumes at London’s Princess Royal Distribution Centre also meant not all mail could be processed on schedule.

The mail centres below reported not all mail was processed or despatched to schedule over the past 24 hours, and as a result, may be delivered slightly later than expected.
Bristol Mail Centre: Some mail posted yesterday in other parts of the UK for delivery in the BA, BS, GL and TA postcode areas.
Chelmsford Mail Centre: Some mail posted yesterday in other parts of the UK for delivery in the CM, CO and SS postcode areas.
Chester Mail Centre: Some mail posted yesterday in other parts of the UK for delivery in the CH, LL and SY postcode areas.
Exeter Mail Centre: Some mail posted yesterday in other parts of the UK for delivery in the EX and TQ postcode areas.
Norwich Mail Centre: Some mail posted yesterday in other parts of the UK for delivery in the IP and NR postcode areas.
Sheffield Mail Centre: Some mail posted yesterday in other parts of the UK for delivery in the DN, HU, LN and S postcode areas.
Southampton Mail Centre: Some mail posted yesterday in other parts of the UK for delivery in the PO, SO and SP postcode areas.
South Midlands Mail Centre: Some mail posted yesterday in other parts of the UK for delivery in the CV, LE, MK and NN postcode areas.
