Adrian Wojnarowski already ruining NBA Draft hours before ESPN broadcast

NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski works for ESPN, which happens to be the network that will air the 2021 NBA Draft Thursday night. One has to wonder what his bosses might be thinking about him spending the afternoon ruining the network’s big night.

Wojnarowski, or “Woj” as he is commonly called, revealed via Twitter that the Detroit Pistons will be taking Oklahoma State product Cade Cunningham with the first overall pick tonight. It’s hardly a surprise, and has been long-speculated since the NCAA season ended.

But then, Woj tweeted that the Rockets and Cavaliers “continue to trend toward Jalen Green and Evan Mobley with the second and third picks, respectively.”

Spoiler alert!

Wojnarowski has long been known for revealing draft picks via his Twitter account before they are announced on the official broadcast, doing so even after he joined ESPN from Yahoo! in 2017.

Usually, however, the tweets come a few minutes prior to the picks. This time, it was several hours early.

It remains to be seen if the picks have officially been locked in, as the tweet merely mentioned that the teams were “trending toward” the selections. But one might wonder what ESPN’s top insider may have done to his own network’s ratings by jumping the gun.
