Arsenal transfer news: Gunners eyeing swoop for Bayer Leverkusen ace Bernd Leno as goalkeeper Petr Cech struggles

ARSENAL are lining up a swoop to bring Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno to the Emirates, according to reports.

As Petr Cech continues to struggle in the Premier League, the Gunners are keeping their options open about bringing in a new shot-stopper in the summer.

According to German news outlet Bild, Arsene Wenger's side have expressed an interest in acquiring the services of the 26-year-old.

Leno is tied down at the Bundesliga club until 2020, and has buy-out clause of just £22million.

The report goes onto state that the six-cap German international is looking for a new challenge after seven years at the BayArena.

Speaking recently, the Confederations Cup winner said: "If I go abroad, it would not be as a number-one contender, but only as clear number one."

Napoli are believed to be leading the chase to sign Leno, with the Serie A outfit looking to replace Pepe Reina who is expected to depart the club at the end of the season when his contract expires.

Cech will have just a year left on his deal in North London at the end of the campaign, and there have been calls from disgruntled Arsenal fans to drop the former Chelsea ace.
