Darts star and plumber fixes sink hours before World Darts Championship match

Darts ace Cameron Menzies is having quite the Friday afternoon.

The Scotsman is set to take on Rusty-Jake Rodriguez at the Alexandra Palace on Friday evening in his opening game at the Paddy Power World Darts Championship as he looks to better his second-round exit last year this time around.

However, prior to showing up at Ally Pally, Menzies has been working hard at his other job as a plumber. The 34-year-old, who is dating Fallon Sherrock, took to social media hours before his clash against Rodriguez, showing off to his fans the less glamorous side of his life.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, Menzies posted a photo of what he was working on what looked to be a bathroom, writing: "Working both the world's. What a joy." He then posted another snap of himself in the bathroom, adding: "Plumbing at 11 darts at 8. Finished" wearing his attire for his Friday night Ally Pally showdown.

And of course, the two snaps had darts fans on social media in hysterics. One fan wrote: "Blimey fella, I'd of taken at least today off" to which Menzies replied: "Tried to. But got half a shift take that."

And a fifth said: "Darts is a proper sport. None of this pre match conditioning nonsense." Thankfully for Menzies, his half-day at work has been softened by the fact he will be guaranteed £7,500 for his first round appearance at the Ally Pally.

Should he beat Rodriguez tonight, he will earn himself £15,000 for reaching the second round – with a £10,000 increase on that figure should he make it to the third round.
