Eddie Howe 'will rule himself out of England manager job leaving two names on shortlist to replace Gareth Southgate' | The Sun

EDDIE HOWE is not interested in replacing Gareth Southgate as England manager, according to reports.

Southgate, 53, is under contract as Three Lions boss until the end of next year.

The FA are claimed to be compiling a list of potential candidates to replace Southgate, when he eventually leaves his post.

Newcastle boss Howe is believed to be among the strongest contenders.

But according to the Telegraph, Howe will rule himself out of the running, should the position become available.

The 45-year-old does not want to become an international boss at this stage of his career.

Some might expect the manager's hotseat at St James' Park to be a volatile one, given their ambitious ownership.

With Howe not keen, two other obvious English candidates are believed to be in the running.

Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper has also been named as a contender.
