Gareth Southgate whips up a smoothie as England reveal partnership with M&S Food's 'Eat Well, Play Well' campaign

GARETH SOUTHGATE whipped up a smoothie to celebrate England joining forces with M&S Food's "Eat Well, Play Well" campaign.

The FA, as well as England's men and women's teams, have joined the fight to promote healthy eating habits for the next generation.

And the Three Lions boss got into the spirit of the partnership as he concocted his very own "Southgate Smoothie".

Southgate whizzed up a healthy drink packed with oats, yoghurt, dates, strawberries, banana and oat milk to support the cause.

On the multi-year deal between M&S Food, the England national teams and the FA, Southgate said: “Through our partnership with M&S Food and Eat Well we are aiming to help families across the country make healthier eating choices using the power of football.

"We believe the fuel and recovery habits of all England players play an important role in their development and performance.

"Now the game is such fine margins that if you don't get that bit right, then you're in trouble.

"We're really looking forward to working with M&S and taking our nutrition to another level.

Sarina Wiegman, England Women’s manager added: “It is great that we have partnered with M&S Food and our elite players from the senior to development squads will be able to encourage healthy eating.

"We cannot underestimate how important that is and this partnership supports that with the food range on offer.

"I know our players will enjoy the new ‘Boost Bar’ that has been installed at St George’s Park, where they can enjoy fresh Eat Well smoothies to support their fuel and recovery goals.”

The partnership extends across all of the Home Nations – with England joined by Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland in backing the campaign.

On the exciting news, M&S CEO Stuart Machin claimed: “Today I’ll be writing to all our customers about this partnership and our aim to make a real difference to health and inspire the next generation.

“By harnessing the influence of the players as role models, we want to encourage children and families to make healthier food choices through choosing Eat Well.
