Man Utd players ‘fear Erik ten Hag doesn’t have strong enough personality to handle star-studded squad’

MANCHESTER UNITED’S squad are allegedly concerned that incoming boss Erik ten Hag does not have a strong enough personality to transform the club.

The Red Devils finally confirmed that the Ajax manager would be joining them this summer last week.

The 52-year-old has penned a contract until June 2025 worth £9million-a-year.

United have endured another disappointing campaign, which will end trophyless again, and they look set to miss out on Champions League football.

Now Manchester Evening News have claimed that their players are encouraged by Ten Hag's 'coaching credentials'.

However, they have doubts over whether he has the personality to turn around their fortunes.

Pogba ‘leaves club WhatsApp group’, ‘Pau Torres and Nunez top Ten Hag targets’

United legend Gary Neville raised concerns about Ten Hag last month when him and PSG’s Mauricio Pochettino were both interviewed for the job.

He said: “If you look at Pochettino and Ten Hag who are the two that keep getting mentioned, have they got the personality to come in to Manchester United?

“To influence up, to take over the planning of the training ground, to redevelop the stadium, all the stuff you think a great manager would do.

“I'm not sure Pochettino and ten Hag have got that in them.”

But the same news outlet as this latest report states that there is at least “one player” that is “looking forward” to working with Ten Hag.

The 24-year-old has been linked with a move away this summer after a difficult campaign.

Now he seems keen to prove his worth to the new manager and be part of the club’s future under him.
