Man Utd takeover news LIVE: United could 'hijack' Arsenal bid for Rice, Sheikh Jassim 'keen' on Premier League rival | The Sun

WEST HAM reportedly believe they can get their full asking price of £100million for Declan Rice this summer, and they think Manchester United could be the club to offer it.

Arsenal are strongly linked with Rice, but it's been said the Hammers think United will end up trying to hijack the deal.

On the takeover front, Sheikh Jassim is considering buying a Premier League rival if his bid to buy Manchester United is rejected by Glazers.

Elsewhere, Red Devils goalkeeper David de Gea is set to be offered fresh terms at Old Trafford, according to reports.

Meanwhile, talisman Marcus Rashford is yet to sign a contract and SunSport can exclusively reveal that Erik ten Hag knows why.

No United stars make Neville's TOTS

Gary Neville as well as pal Jamie Carragher both snubbed United stars when picking their Premier League team of the season's.

Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, Casemiro and Marcus Rashford all would've been possible choices for the pundits.

However, none were included in either team as four Arsenal and Man City stars dominated Neville's side.

And Carragher similar, but who did find space for Liverpool's Alisson and Mo Salah.

    Good morning Man Utd fans

Transfer talk has begun to take over Old Trafford as fans brace for a string of new signings before next season.

Saturday's win at Bournemouth means that the job of getting top four is almost done – but an FA Cup final still looms next month.

But with so little football yet to be played, attention has turned to the club's major transfer targets for this summer – and those who could leave.

The club hierarchy are set to dump Anthony Martial after running out of patience with the 27-year-old.

The Frenchman went straight down the tunnel when he was hooked in the 57th minute of Saturday's 1-0 win at Bournemouth.

It was another underwhelming performance from the forward, who has just eight goals in 27 appearances this season. Old Trafford’s hierarchy now want him out — and boss Erik ten Hag agrees.

Man United are also trying to wrap up a deal for Napoli's star defender Kim Min-Jae as PSG circle.

The Red Devils are ready to table an offer for the South Korean centre-back, whose £40million release clause becomes active on July 1.

Meanwhile, United have also been linked to Juventus Dusan Vlahovic.

They could face a fight with Prem rivals Chelsea to secure the signature of the 23-year-old striker, who is rated as among Europe's best bright stars.

United also remain heavily linked to Harry Kane who they are expected to push the boat out for this summer.

He appears to have fired a warning shot to Tottenham chiefs after the club's poor home loss against Brentford on Saturday.

Kane said: “A lot needs to change here for us to start being successful again

“There is a conversation to be had in terms of the failures of the club.

“My focus is to enjoy this final week as much as possible and try and finish the season with a win.

“I am focused on this season and trying to help the team as much as possible. That is all I can do.”

    EXCLUSIVE – Ant & Ditched

Manchester United are dumping Anthony Martial after running out of patience, writes Neil Custis.

The 27-year-old went straight down the tunnel when he was hooked in the 57th minute of Saturday’s 1-0 win at Bournemouth.

It was another underwhelming performance from the forward, who has just eight goals in 27 appearances this season. Old Trafford’s hierarchy now want him out — and boss Erik ten Hag agrees.

Martial was just 19 when he joined the club from Monaco for £36million in 2015, then a record fee for a teenager.

He had a good first season netting 17 times and in 2019-20 he scored a career best 23.

But since then he has only hit 16 goals across the last three seasons and is constantly in and out the treatment room.

    Full Time at St James'

Newcastle are back in the Champions League after a 0-0 draw with Leicester City.

The Magpies needed just a point to put themselves four points clear of fifth-placed Liverpool, who now cannot catch them with just a single game left.

Manchester United can follow in Newcastle footsteps if they claim a point against either Chelsea on Thursday or Fulham on Sunday.

    'He Deserves It'

Jack Butland has lavished praise on David de Gea after the Spaniard claimed the Golden Glove.

Another clean sheet against Bournemouth on Saturday – his 17th of the season – has guaranteed he was won the clean sheet tournament for the second time while at United.

And back-up loanee keeper Butland told United's in-house media: "I’ve watched him from a distance for a long time and he’s a fantastic shot stopper. He's a great guy. He's been enjoyable to work with.

"He's been great for me since I've come in, been really positive and helpful, and I've enjoyed working with him. So it's been good fun and he deserves it.

"I think it might be his second Golden Glove. I’m surprised he hasn't had more, but such is the quality of the league. He's a top goalkeeper, he deserves it and he's been vitally important in those clean sheets."

    Case Closed

Casemiro has led the support for countryman and former teammate Vinicius Jr after the winger faced more racist abuse while playing for Real Madrid.

The midfielder tweeted: "I feel disappointed and very sad to see, ashamed, how episodes of racism with my team-mate Vinicius Junior are repeated.

"We cannot continue to tolerate this problem that transcends sport, affects the whole of society and goes unpunished.

"Public condemnation is not enough, punishment is necessary. La Liga must urgently take exemplary measures, because these repeated incidents of racism tarnish the image not only of Spanish football, but also of all world football. And the feeling must be unanimous: zero tolerance!"

    He's a Keeper

Nottingham Forest are ready to start their summer rebuild and want Manchester United's £30million-rated goalie Dean Henderson to join them on a permanent deal, writes SunSport's Graeme Bryce.

The 26-year-old England international impressed on loan last season until he suffered a thigh injury in January which required surgery.

Forest moved swiftly to bring in Paris St Germain's experienced back-up Keylor Navas, who became a cult figure with fans as he helped Forest avoid the drop.

However, the former Real Madrid star will return to Paris this summer and Forest boss Steve Cooper wants Henderson installed as his permanent No.1 so he can hit the ground running when he returns to full fitness.

The 'keeper still has two years left on his United contract but he appeared to burn his bridges when he described his parent club's treatment of him as 'criminal,' shortly after joining Forest.

    Hands on Dec

West Ham believe Manchester United will hijack Arsenal's hunt for Declan Rice.

The Hammers are confident of getting their full asking price of £100million-plus for their England midfielder.

Boss David Moyes admits he expects to lose his skipper this summer.

That means an expected club record bid from Arsenal of £92m with add-ons might not be enough.

The Daily Mail say the Hammers are ready to hold out for much more as they believe United are preparing a bigger offer.

    No Free Gift

Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham have all sent scouts to watch Gent striker Gift Orban, according to reports.

The 20-year-old lit up the Belgian Pro League and Europa Conference League this season, scoring 20 goals in 20 appearances for Gent.

And according to The Evening Standard, his incredible form has attracted interest from some of the Premier League's biggest clubs.

United, Chelsea and Spurs are all scouting Orban, who joined Gent from Stabaek in January.

But the Buffalos are reluctant to let him go unless a substantial bid is made.

    Loan Then Ranger

Man United loan star Jack Butland looks set to join Rangers after reportedly agreeing to lower his wage demands.

The 30-year-old has spent the second half of this season on loan at Old Trafford from Premier League rivals Crystal Palace.

With his contract at Selhurst Park up in the summer, Gers boss Michael Beale targeted Butland on a free transfer.

We reported how the Scottish giants were willing to match his salary from the Eagles.

And they hoped to lure him north of the border with the promise of first-team action.

    Kim and Get Me

Manchester United are trying to wrap up a deal for Napoli ace Kim Min-Jae as Paris Saint-Germain circle, writes Oscar Paul exclusively for SunSport.

The Red Devils are ready to table an offer for the South Korean centre-back, whose £40million release clause becomes active on July 1.

Kim, 26, shone at the World Cup for his country.

And he has just won Serie A but must return home for military service in June.

Nicknamed "The Monster", he is one of Europe’s hottest properties after helping guide Napoli to their first title in 33 years.

    Draw Kings

Man United and Chelsea will be looking to get the edge when they meet at Old Trafford – and avoid another draw.

The pair meet on Thursday night having drawn their last five games either 1-1 or 0-0.

The omens otherwise look good for top-four chasing United with Chelsea having not won at Old Trafford in almost 10 years.

Their last victory at the stadium was when Rafa Benitez was in interim charge and Juan Mata netted a late winner.

The Blues have also only won one of their last 12 against United home or away.

    Only One Option

Former Tottenham and Arsenal defender William Gallas thinks Harry Kane will end up at Man United.

The centre-back, 45, does not back the striker to make the cross-London switch like he did.

Gallas told Genting Casino: "Right now, the only club he can join is maybe United. Harry has that strength to go abroad, but he was very young when I played with him, so I don’t know what his goals are now.

"He definitely wants to win trophies, so if he wants to stay in the UK then the only club he can join with a realistic possibility is Man United.

"Or maybe Chelsea? They would have to pay the price, but I don’t think Daniel Levy will let him go to Chelsea – it would be a disaster! A lot of the fans hated me when I moved between London clubs, but I am not English so it didn’t bother me."

    Haal In

Erling Haaland will NOT be probed over his Prem title F-word interview, writes SunSport’s Martin Lipton.

Manchester City star Haaland let slip the expletive as he gate-crashed a chat with Jack Grealish during the Sky Sports coverage of the club’s celebrations.

A laughing Haaland came up to hug his team-mate and said: “I f****** love you!”

Some Manchester United fans suggested the FA would have to intervene and potentially ban Haaland from the FA Cup Final on June 3.

They pointed to the two game ban handed out to Wayne Rooney for screaming into a TV camera after scoring against West Ham in 2011.

But Sun Sport understands that FA disciplinary chiefs do not believe any action is required and that there are no plans to investigate.

    Kud Do

Man United have been put on red alert over a transfer move for Mohammed Kudus – but face a fight with two rivals for his signature.

Erik ten Hag is looking to return to his old club once more for reinforcements after already raiding them for Lisandro Martinez and Antony last summer.

He has been keeping tabs on Kudus for months with Arsenal and Liverpool also linked.

The 22-year-old Ghana attacker has acquired a long-list of admirers after scoring 22 goals in 48 matches for club and country this term.

He remains under contract until 2025 but sparked speculation that he could be set for a move by recently snubbing a new one-year extension.

    Case Closed?

There will be plenty of debate among United fans on who should win their Player of the Season award.

Casemiro did his own chances no harm with another sensational showing on Saturday.

The Brazilian scored a wonderful acrobatic goal at the Vitality – his fourth strike of the season – and continues to drive United forward with his performances.

    All Eyes on St James'

The Premier League is into its final week and the penultimate weekend has provided a much clearer picture of how the top four race might finish.

Man United's hard-fought win at Bournemouth coupled with Liverpool only drawing with Aston Villa has left power very much with the Red Devils.

A point in either of their final two games against Chelsea or Fulham will guarentee Champions League football next season.

That is also the case for Newcastle who host relegation-battling Leicester tonight in the final Monday Night Football of the season.

Liverpool's top four hopes might be extinguished as soon as Thursday.

    Just Du It

Chelsea have reportedly put forward a £70m offer for Dusan Vlahovic – but face competition from Manchester United.

The goal-shy Blues and the Red Devils will both be targeting frontmen this summer.

ESPN claim Chelsea have already gone all out for the 23-year-old Serbian, who has impressed at Juventus.

While Football Transfers reports that United, who have been heavily linked to Harry Kane, are also keen on the striker.

    Red Devils target speaks out

Manchester United target Harry Kane fired a clear message at Daniel Levy by claiming “a lot needs to change” to stop Spurs being “failures”.

Chairman Levy was taunted after Saturday’s 3-1 loss to Brentford.

And Kane, who may have played his last home game for Tottenham, said: “A lot needs to change here for us to start being successful again.

“There is a conversation to be had in terms of the failures of the club.

“My focus is to enjoy this final week as much as possible and try and finish the season with a win.

    Dean Henderson in permanent exit

Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Manchester United star Dean Henderson on a permanent deal, according to reports.

The goalkeeper joined Forest last summer in a loan deal until the end of the season.

And now the club want to tie him down for the future after securing their Premier League spot for next season with a 1-0 win over Arsenal.

According to Manchester Evening News, Forest are prepared to spend £30million on the shot-stopper.

And it is believed Henderson would be open to the move as he would have a regular spot in the team ahead of Euro 2024.

    Man Utd target's form dip

Manchester United's interest in Atalanta forward Rasmus Hojlund has played a part in his dip in form, his manager has revealed.

The Red Devils are in the market for someone to lead the line for Erik ten Hag's side next season.

And Danish attacker Hojlund, 20, has been the subject of rumours around an Old Trafford move as a result of his superb performances.

But in recent months he has dropped off, with just one goal in his last seven Serie A appearances – which came at the weekend.

And while Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini recognises there are numerous reasons for this, he insists transfer speculation has been one of them.

Speaking to Tuttosport, he said: "The qualities are all there, at the beginning we had to get to know him but he immediately stood out for his great will to break through.

"He did very well after the first stop [part of the season], then he was called up to the national team and too many rumours distracted him, then there was the [abductor] injury."

De Jong on Man Utd links

Frenkie de Jong has again reiterated his desire to stay at Barcelona for the long-term.

The former Ajax ace was Erik ten Hag's key target last summer.

On United's interest, De Jong said: "The club was in a difficult situation and they could have sold me for a big fee. But I didn't want to go and stayed.

"Manchester United spoke with Barca, even though I wanted to stay.

"I want to be at Barca for as long as I can."

    Prem clubs on Vinicius alert

Prem giants are on high alert to launch a summer raid on Brazilian superstar Vinicius Jr after he hinted he is ready to quit Spain.

The South American ace became embroiled in a war of words with LaLiga chief Javier Tebas following the racism storm and red card in Real Madrid’s defeat at Valencia.

Vinicius Jr, who had demanded action from the referee after pointing out one alleged racist in the Mestalla crowd, was later dismissed despite appearing to be the victim of an assault by opponents.

The incidents – angrily condemned by Real boss Carlo Ancelotti – left the 22-year-old publicly throwing his LaLiga future into doubt.

He wrote on Twitter: “It wasn’t the first time, nor the second, nor the third.

“Racism is normal in LaLiga. The competition thinks it’s normal, the Federation does too and the opponents encourage it.

“I’m so sorry but today, in Brazil, Spain is known as a country of racists. Unfortunately, for everything that happens each week, I agree.

“But I am strong and I will go to the end against racists. Even if far from here.”

That last comment suggested the Brazilian is ready to force a move from Madrid – with only Prem clubs able to afford his likely £100m fee and £360,000 per week current salary.
