Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero is Premier League's best ever foreign star, according to Alan Shearer

ALAN SHEARER has hailed Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero as the best foreign player to ever star in the Premier League.

Aguero, who moved to the Etihad seven years ago from Atletico Madrid, has been instrumental in City’s last three title-winning triumphs and has already hit the ground running this term.

The 30-year-old bagged 21 league goals last season and was it again hitting a hat-trick in the 6-1 demolition of Huddersfield on Sunday.

That was his ninth Premier League treble moving him level with Robbie Fowler, but still behind Shearer’s eleven.

Sunday’s haul took the Argentine hitman to 146 league goals, moving him ahead of Robin van Persie with Thierry the leading non-British marksman with 175.

And despite trailing the Gunners legend by 29 goals, the former Blackburn and Newcastle forward insists Aguero is the Premier League’s best ever import.

Shearer said: “Sergio Aguero is now on nine Premier League hat-tricks and only two behind me.

“The best foreign player to ever play in the Premier League.

“A great centre-forward with no weaknesses.”

City boss Pep Guardiola was full of praise for his main man on Sunday, and despite talk of the South American leaving last year, the Spanish coach reckons Aguero is in the best condition of his career.
