Premier League sack race – Claudio Ranieri heavy odds-on favourite to be sacked by Watford after weekend defeat

CLAUDIO RANIERI is almost certain to be the next Premier League manager relieved of his duties.

That's according to bookmakers Sky Bet, who've SLASHED the Watford boss's odds from 9/4 to an astonishing 1/50 over the past 48 hours.

Ranieri, 70, replaced Xisco Munoz in October but has been unable to reverse the club's ailing fortunes.

The Hornets have lost 11 of their last 13 top-flight matches under Ranieri's leadership – collecting just seven points from a possible 39.

And Friday's woeful 3-0 home defeat to relegation rivals Norwich saw them drop into the bottom three.

Ranieri's side still have two games in hand but are now without top scorer Emmanuel Dennis for their crucial bout with Burnley after his dismissal against the Canaries.

After the clash, the Italian said: "Before I answer I want to say sorry to our fans because we wanted to do something better.

"We asked the players to light with fire and we can't lose this match, but after the goal we disappeared.

"Maybe we played better 10 v 11. It is very important the lesson Norwich gave us, they played as a team, we played as individuals.

"That is no good. Now I have to choose the players that want to fight hard for Watford. You have to play 11 v 11."

Ranieri is now more than likely to become the EIGHTH top-flight casualty of the 2021-22 campaign.

He could follow in the footsteps of Xisco, Steve Bruce, Dean Smith, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Daniel Farke, Nuno Espirito Santo and Rafa Benitez.

The club's owners, the Pozzo family, are known for their ruthless dealings with managers with Ranieri their 10th appointment in seven years.

Elsewhere in the market Leicester's Brendan Rodgers is offered at 20/1, along with No Manager To Leave for the remainder of the campaign.

Dean Smith, Eddie Howe, Graham Potter and Sean Dyche all share odds of 22/1, while Antonio Conte, Marcelo Bielsa and Ralf Rangnick are offered at 25s.
