Timo Werner scores Chelsea’s fastest Champions League goal EVER with 1min 22secs tap-in fans joke even HE couldn’t miss

CHELSEA recorded their fastest ever Champions League goal after Timo Werner tapped in against Zenit St. Petersburg.

But the lead did not last long with the Russian side responding well to go into half-time 2-1 up.

Less than two minutes into the contest Mason Mount whipped in a wicked corner that was flicked on by Andreas Christensen at the near post.

And Werner found himself in the right place at the right time to tap in from a yard out just one minute and 22 seconds into the contest.

But rather than praise the German, several Chelsea fans used the goal as another opportunity to dig him out.

One Blues fan wrote on Twitter: "Not even Werner could miss from that position."

Another added: "Haha, just seen Werner’s goal. Unmissable, even for him."

A third said: "Finally a goal even Werner couldn't miss."

But Werner proved those comments were unwarranted by playing a key role in getting Chelsea back on top.

First he played a brilliant one-two with Ross Barkley to break in behind the Zenit defence, evading the goalkeeper by passing to Romelu Lukaku.

The Belgian tapped into the empty net to score on his first start since returning from injury.

And with five minutes remaining Werner broke through again, sidestepped a defender and then blasted into the bottom corner to give his side the lead once more.

But Magomed Ozdoev struck in stoppage time to level the match and prevent Chelsea from winning Group H.
