When did Jeremy Buendia start bodybuilding?

During high school, Buendia was a linebacker at Whitney High School, Rocklin, California.

However, due to the rigorous nature of American football, he sustained injuries to the discs in his neck and back.

Partly due to this injury, he gained an interest in the sport of bodybuilding.

Buendia has previously said that he was familiar with the principles of bodybuilding as his father was a non-competitive bodybuilder in the 1970s.

He placed fourth in the Men's Physique Olympia 2018.

But fans across the globe were stunned when Buendia announced his return to the Olympia stage in July 2023.

He had hopes of winning the title for a record-extending fifth time.

As a former Men’s Physique Olympia champion, Buendia held a lifetime invitation to bodybuilding’s most famous stage.

Buendia’s return was a few years in the making, however, after not competing since 2018.

He took his first steps toward prepping for November’s Olympia in Orlando, Florida.

The bodybuilder marked the beginning of his off-season training by uploading a video of a chest workout to his YouTube channel.

After the competition had ended on November 5, Buendia claimed eighth place.
