90 Day Fiancé star Andrei Castravet has been trying to break into the Potthast family business with some limited success. The rest of the Potthasts seem frustrated with Andrei Castravet’s efforts to engage in the business, fearing that he’s trying to weasel his way in and shoulder them out. Chuck Potthast, the family patriarch, seems to want Andrei to succeed, and has been teaching him some of the ins and outs. Now, fans are beginning to notice that Chuck Potthast seems to enjoy Andrei’s company more than his own son, Charlie’s.
Chuck Potthast takes Andrei under his wing, Charlie is frustrated
90 Day Fiancé star Andrei Castravet has been learning the ins and outs of Chuck Potthast’s family business, but it’s been rubbing Charlie Potthast the wrong way.
At one point, Chuck offered Andrei a chance to get in on some of the action by enlisting him to do some physical labor with demolition and preparation for listing. However, Andrei struggled with the job, leaving Charlie frustrated at the results. Specifically, Andrei ripped doors off of a fridge for some reason, and started demolishing the kitchen with the gas still on.
“Dude, even if my dad tells you to do something you still gotta run it by me because you don’t really have any experience doing this. I know how to do this. Have you ever messed with a gas stove? You’re going to demolish this wall with a gas stove?” asked Charlie.
The two got into a heated argument about it, and Andrei stormed out of the house after swearing up a storm at Charlie Potthast. Charlie felt frustrated by the fact that he’d have to clean up Andrei’s mess.
‘90 Day Fiancé’: RV trip is a recipe for disaster
Recent episodes have showcased the Potthast family and Andrei Castravet taking an RV trip to Maryland, cramming 11 people into the vehicle for a long drive. This seems like a perfect recipe for drama.
“I’m just doing this for Chuck. And I think this is just a great experience for me and him just to get a little bit of bonding and have some time one-on-one,” Andrei Castravet told 90 Day Fiancé producers.
“Alright man, drive me to Maryland so I can see my folks,” said Chuck Potthast before fist-bumping with Andrei.
“I literally don’t care about the opinion of the people inside the RV, how I’m gonna drive or how I’m gonna do it. It’s gonna be an issue, but I’ll handle it,” Andrei added during a talking head.
The drama started early, with Becky Potthast bemoaning the lack of space in the RV’s undercarriage and for some reason pinning the blame on Andrei.
‘90 Day Fiancé’ fans think Chuck likes Andrei better than his own son
90 Day Fiancé fans have noticed that Chuck Potthast seems to enjoy spending time with Andrei Castravet — some have even suggested that he likes Andrei more than his own son, Charlie Potthast.
“Chuck seems to be just really cool with hanging out with Andrei. They seem to have had a very friendly relationship during the drive up north to the family reunion. … Charlie seems to be insanely jealous of Chuck and Andrei’s relationship. And Libby’s sisters seem to be acting with the same jealousy vibes,” posted a Redditor on the 90 Day Fiancé sub.
“Chuck’s kind of an easy going guy, and Charlie is a b-tch. Kinda makes sense,” opined one user. Others called Charlie a variety of names — the Potthast brother doesn’t seem to be well-liked.
“Totally agree!! Charlie is just a COMPLETE A–!!! I’d be so embarrassed to have him for a husband, father or child. He’s sooooo jealous of Andrei it’s VERY apparent,” added another user.
Others felt that the drama was manufactured for a spinoff, and that Chuck was simply interested in being near the cameras.
“I think they (Chuck included) all want to be near the cameras and they know they either need to cozy up to Andrei or pick a fight with him. Maybe for Chuck, cozying up to him is the lesser of two evils,” suggested one such viewer.
