Ant and Dec share exciting I'm A Celebrity update

ANT and Dec have shared an exciting update on I'm A Celebrity 2022.

The presenters have told of their hopes for the ITV series to finally return to Australia later this year.

The show was filmed at Gwrych Castle, in Wales, for a second year in 2021 due to Covid travel restrictions, instead of its usual location in the Aussie jungle.

Declan Donnelly, 46, said on Thursday's episode of The One Show: "Well, the plan is the jungle."

"Nothing against Wales," Ant chimed in.

"We love Wales, but Australia is (the show's) home and we'd like to get back there if we can.

"With Covid there was no getting around it."

Previously speaking on the Graham Norton Show, Dec described Australia as the programme's "spiritual home".

He added: "Four weeks there in the sun in October and November is great. We love it and we want to go back."

The pair also admitted that celebs have a harder ride in the Aussie jungle.

"We can torment them more in Australia," Dec said.

"It's harder conditions outside and there are all sorts of creepy crawlies in the camp, so it's harder in Australia, definitely."

But first the Geordie duo will be seen on telly again in Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway on February 19.

The live variety show will be filmed in front of a live studio audience again after last year's show had a virtual gallery due to Covid protocols.

ITV said it will be the "happiest 90 minutes of the week" with the return of classic segments as well as new features, surprises, celebrity guests and outrageous stunts.

Popular features Undercover and I'm A Celebrity… Get Out Of Me Ear will be back with celebrity guests including Jeremy Clarkson and Oti Mabuse lined up.

The award-winning programme will have a host of new additions, including a mini-series called Polter Guys, in which McPartlin and Donnelly become ghostbusters.

Rob Delaney, Jo Brand, Kadeena Cox, Tom Allen, Fred Sirieix and Roman Kemp will be among the celebrity cameos in the new adventure.
