Barry from EastEnders makes epic music video debut for Tom Williams

EastEnders star Shaun Williamson makes his music video debut in Tom Williams’ Head’s Down, and you absolutely need to see it.

The actor, who portrayed Barry Evans on the BBC One soap, plays the troubled protagonist in the psychedelic music video to Tom’s new track, which lyrically tells the story of a late-night walk through a fictional city on its knees.

The population of said city have become so disconnected by a fear of human interaction, that they would rather keep their heads down and keep walking than helping one another each in their hour of need

The music video for the track sees Shaun’s character, evidently at breaking point, take a detour from his normal route to work, instead walking across an industrial wasteland, before dropping to his knees and digging.

‘We worked with the brilliant James Arden on this video who also directed the ‘Follow The Leader’ video,’ said singer Tom, telling us how the unique concept for the must-see clip came about.

‘We wrote the treatment which showed a man reaching breaking point, ground down by the burden of his own existence and work schedule.

‘As soon as we wrote the treatment, we knew Shaun Williamson would be the absolute dream lead for the video. We never thought he’d agreed to do it but are beyond thrilled with how it worked out!’

Tom has built a passionate fanbase since dropping his first album, Tom Williams & The Boat’s Too Slow, ten years ago. He has released six albums to date.

His 2017 album All Change was voted by BBC 6 Music Recommends as one of their Top Ten Albums Of The Year, and his last album 2019’s What Did You Want To Be?, which was produced by Tim Rice-Oxley, gained radio support from BBC 6 Music, BBC Radio 2 and Radio X.

Heads Down is the second track from Tom’s upcoming album, Follow The Leader, which is out on July 30. The album will focus on pre-lockdown and post-lockdown life, providing snapshots of modern Britain.

Follow The Leader is out July 30 on Tom Williams’ own Wire Boat Recordings label. For more information, click here.
