The official Big Brother start date has been confirmed as Sunday October 8 at 9pm.

After years off air following its axing from Channel 4, ITV will be relaunching the famous reality show in less than two weeks with AJ Odudu and Will Best at the helm of the show.

To celebrate the big launch of the reality show, Big Brother will be launching on ITV1, ITV2 and ITX and will be available Sunday to Friday at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.

ITV confirmed that the launch will see a new cast of "carefully selected housemates from all walks of life" as they become the first people to appear on the new series and in the brand new Big Brother house. They'll arrive at the famous location in front of a live studio audience.

ITV also confirmed the show will have a "new look", but the clever tasks and the intense nominations and live evictions will be back. Just like the previous series, the public will still play a crucial role and will vote throughout the series.

Just like the previous series, the public will also decide the winner who will leave the house with a whopping cash prize. It was previously confirmed that Big Brother isn't the only thing returning, with the spin off back too, titled Big Brother: Late & Live.

The hosts will film live from the Big Brother house in front of a studio audience and give viewers an extra hour of content, with the first live interviews and exclusive features and celebrity guest commentary taking place on the spin-off.

Big Brother's live stream will also be back, airing seven nights a week on ITVX.

AJ was confirmed as the host alongside Will Best back in October and said at the time: "I'm so excited to finally be able to say that, yes: I'm hosting Big Brother! I couldn't be happier.

"Following in the footsteps of some of my favourite broadcasting legends to front such an iconic show is an absolute honour – and to do it alongside my amazing friend Will is the icing on the cake."

Will added: "I grew up with Big Brother so getting a chance to host it with my mate AJ is a dream come true. I can't wait to tell some housemates not to swear."

Director of reality commissioning Paul Mortimer said at the time: "AJ and Will really are our perfect pairings as we prepare to reintroduce Big Brother to the next generation."
