Bridgerton: Daphne runs out of the ball
Bridgerton season two is a possibility for Netflix following the success of the debut season. The first season of the romantic period drama was released on the streaming platform on Christmas Day 2020, and it follows the love stories of the Bridgerton family. The series is based on the novels by Julia Quinn, and Express.co.uk has all you need to know about the order of the books.
Which Julia Quinn book will Bridgerton season 2 be based on?
Bridgerton arrived as the perfect Christmas gift for fans who were keen for some uplifting entertainment over the festive period.
The Shonda Rhimes masterpiece told an age-old love story through quirky and modern ways, and viewers have fallen in love with the drama.
The first season was based on the book titled The Duke and I, which follows Daphne Bridgerton (played by Phoebe Dynevor) on her quest to find true love.
Fans fell in love with the bond between Daphne and the Duke of Hastings, Simon Basset (Regé-Jean Page), and all the trials and tribulations that came with it.
In the end, the couple were able to accept each other’s faults and they eventually had a baby son together.

The series ended with Daphne discovering the truth about why Simon did not want to have children.
He had been shunned by his own father, due to his speech impediment, and he did not feel worthy of love.
Viewers were in tears when the couple managed to overcome their turbulent relationship, and Daphne was able to produce a male heir.
The identity of the outspoken and mysterious Lady Whistledown was also revealed, and the loveable character Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) turned out to be the author of the gossip sheets.
Some questions remain as to whether Eloise Bridgerton (Claudia Jessie) will ever find love, and whether Penelope will be able to get over her feelings for Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton).
The Bridgerton series is made up of 11 books, so there is still plenty of content to include in future seasons.
The order of the Bridgerton series is as follows:
The Duke and I
The Viscount Who Loved Me
An Offer from a Gentleman
Romancing Mister Bridgerton
To Sir Phillip, With Love
When He Was Wicked
It’s In His Kiss
On the Way to the Wedding
The Bridgertons: Happily Ever After
The Further Observations of Lady Whistledown
Lady Whistledown Strikes Back
If the TV series is renewed for a second season and it continues to use the source material, season two should follow the events of The Viscount Who Loved Me.

The second book in the series focuses on the plights of Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey), who lost the woman he loved in the first season.
He had been in a sexual relationship with opera singer Siena Rosso (Sabrina Bartlett), but she realised the pair were from different worlds and they could no longer be together.
At the end of season one, Anthony vowed to put his efforts into finding a wife, which is something he has always put off doing.
In the book, Anthony chooses a wife, but he ends up falling out with her older sister, Kate Sheffield.
Kate is determined to stop the wedding between her sister and Anthony, and Anthony realises he may have unwanted feelings for Kate.
If season two is to draw inspiration from the second book, a new cast member may join for the role of Kate.
Anthony’s wife-to-be will also be an addition to season two, so fans are excited about a revived cast.
Viewers have already taken to social media to express their excitement over the prospect of a second season.

For those who have read the books, they are keen for Kate and Anthony to take the spotlight.
