The director added that it was "a bit surprising" for the network to sign with Coleen Rooney but her story is one that "people want to hear".

Disney+ stated the story will be told by "the woman at the heart of it all", as well as interviews from her nearest and dearest.

The streaming giant said: "The three-part series will take viewers from the circumstances that led to her infamous Instagram post that 'broke the Internet' all the way to Coleen being a successful defendant in one of the UK’s highest-profile High Court defamation cases brought against her by Rebekah Vardy.

"In a story for our times, Wagatha Christie will reveal how fiercely determined and resilient Coleen had to be in order to protect her family from the challenges presented by the traditional and social media landscapes."

Production company Dorothy St Pictures have been following the Liverpudlian for two years documenting the journey of her battle with I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! star, Rebekah.

It's believed that the cameras had even been following Coleen during the High Court trial in May of this year but she had not decided on the streaming platform she would sign with.

Rooney had sensationally claimed Rebekah Vardy's Instagram account had been leaking private stories to the media, signing off a dramatic statement with "It's….. Rebekah Vardy's account."

The former television star won the high-profile libel case following a three-year battle against Rebekah after her initial "sting operation".

During the sting operation, Coleen posted fake stories on her private Instagram, which featured her travelling to Mexico for a "gender selection" procedure, her decision to return to TV and the basement flooding at her new home in Cheshire.

Rebekah had always vehemently denied Coleen's accusations and launched libel proceedings in 2020.

In her own statement, Rebekah said she was "extremely sad and disappointed" by the decision and she did not accept it nor believe it "was just".
