Coleen Rooney's 'make or break' peace bid snubbed by Rebekah Vardy as she insists on apology

WAG peace talks have collapsed after Becky Vardy turned down a “make or break” offer from Coleen Rooney.

Becky, 38 — accused by Coleen of leaking stories — snubbed her foe’s bid to halt the case and instead demanded she apologise.

It means the pair were tonight digging in for an explosive High Court showdown to settle their Wagatha Christie feud.

The warring Wags held the talks in a bid to avoid a costly five-day libel trial this summer.

But The Sun on Sunday can reveal they are at loggerheads.

A source said: “Nothing’s changed. There’s been no progress, no chink of light at the end of the tunnel — and no prospect of avoiding court.

“As far as Coleen’s concerned mediation was a waste of time.”

The wife of ex-England legend Wayne, 34, wanted to settle the libel case out of court.

She suggested she and Becky — married to Leicester striker Jamie — each donate to charity.

They would agree to disagree and pay their own costs in a “drop hands” settlement.

The source said: “Coleen won’t apologise. She’s convinced she’s right about Becky leaking stories to the press and thinks she’s made a reasonable offer. She refuses to do another mediation meeting and is now preparing for court.

“But Becky’s determined to clear her name.”

Coleen, 34, is understood to have tried to settle the dispute on four previous occasions.

She believes it has become a “ridiculous spectacle”.

Mum-of-five Becky denies leaking stories and wants her to admit her accusation was wrong.

Lawyers on both sides are expected to report to the court about the talks on Monday.

The 15-month feud looks set to be decided by a libel judge.

A preliminary hearing found in Becky’s favour last year and Coleen was ordered to pay her £22,913 costs.

Representatives for both Wags today declined to comment.
