Coronation Street fans reckon Gemma Winter is in store for a heartbreaking social services storyline after Joseph was poisoned.

As viewers will recall, Gemma has been struggling in the past few months. So much so, that she ended up rushing stepson Joseph to A&E over fears he was ill.

Gemma was told by multiple doctors that he was fine. They claimed Gemma was panicking because of her twin brother Paul’s battle with motor neurone disease (MND).

However, this week Joseph was still unwell. Taking advice from her mother, Bernie Winter Gemma made Joseph a lavender tea drink.

But things took a terrifying turn when Joseph suddenly passed out. Horrified, Chesney called an ambulance and the boy was rushed to hospital.

While at the hospital, Chesney and Gemma were dealt a major blow when they are told Joseph had been poisoned. It was then revealed that Gemma had made a mistake by giving Joseph lavender essential oil, instead of the lavender tea.

Although it was an accident, fans are fearing that Gemma will have the kids taken off her. On X, formerly known as Twitter, one person said: “Gemma & Chesneys will soon be on first name terms with social services.”

Someone else added: “You say it's an accident Gemma but the hospital/ Social services are going to think differently especially as you brought Joseph into the hospital for no reason last time around.”
