Skating legends Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean are putting their social lives on hold to save Dancing on Ice from the axe.
The duo will be back as judges for the new series, so if they catch coronavirus it will cause major problems.
And there are fears an outbreak on set will force it to be scrapped altogether.
Christopher, 63, said: “We will be limiting our social contact. There is no going out to restaurants. We’ll be staying at home and cooking at home.
“The rules on the show this year will be tight. We will have all the same protocols we had last year and potentially even more.
“And everybody will be adhering to the guidelines very strictly because it’s important.
Nobody wants to jeopardise the show, so everybody will do their best to stay healthy and safe.”
Last year’s series was thrown into chaos when two celebrity contestants were forced to quit due to coronavirus.
And after three others had to go due to injury, bosses were forced to axe one of the live shows in a shock move.
Jayne, 64, said: “It was frightening. The producers had to find a way of making it work. We were forced to miss a week so we could regroup. It was the only way to keep it going.”
Christopher added: “Last year it was new for everybody — how we dealt with it, the protocols, everybody’s concerns.
“Nobody really knew what was going to happen if someone got coronavirus. But now it’s established what we need to do and we have more information, so we are hopeful.”
The new series is set to bring viewers some much-needed light relief as the nation continues to endure the pandemic.
Producers are going all out to make it sparkle more than ever.
Christopher said: “People are looking for entertainment. With this show, you never know what is going to happen. There’s dancing and sequins but there’s also that sense of jeopardy which adds excitement.”
Dancing on Ice kicks off on ITV next Sunday, January 16
