Emmerdale star Isabel Hodgins' 'heart is broken' after beloved dog dies

Emmerdale’s Isabel Hodgins, who plays Victoria Sugden in the soap, has shared some heartbreaking news on her Instagram that any animal lover will relate to. Her much-loved dog Pierre has died at the age of 11.

Alongside a picture of her cradling her beloved pet she shared the sad message, ‘11 years and 11 months of unconditional love. He was my everything and my heart is broken but I’m so grateful he was mine. To everyone that played a part in his life, thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. He was so loved and I know so many people contributed to giving him the best life ❤️’

In August 2021 she shared a happier picture of the little black pug in a meadow of flowers, on his 11th birthday. ‘A face and breath only a mother could love,’ she joked. And a year before that she posted a cute picture of Pierre when he was a puppy.

‘The first picture being from the day we brought him home. I have never and will never deserve you.’

Isabel’s past and present Emmerdale co-stars including Lisa Riley (Mandy Dingle), Charley Webb (Debbie Dingle), Natalie Ann Jamieson (Amy Wyatt) and Chelsea Halfpenny (also Amy Wyatt) were quick to show her their support. Laura Norton (Kerry Wyatt) shared the sweet message, ‘Oh Iz ? I have no words. The little apple to your pie. He will be greatly missed ? love you both x’

Isabel has played Victoria Sugden since 2006, joining Emmerdale when she was only 12 years old.

She returned to the soap with Matthew Wolfenden (David Metcalfe) at the start of the year after months away due to the alleged ‘race row’.

According to reports, a mixed-race actress was left upset after her accent was ‘mimicked’, with a comment made behind the scenes at the time.

To account for their exits, David and Victoria left the village to go on holiday in Portugal, following Meena Jutla’s (Paige Sandhu) attempt at murdering Vic during Super Soap Week.
