Samson (played by Sam Hall) recently became implicated in Emmerdale villain Meena Jutla’s (Paige Sandhu) downfall when he helped Noah Dingle (Jack Downham) hide Leanna Cavanagh’s (Mimi Slinger) ring he’d stolen from the serial killer. For this storyline, he was just a background character but in upcoming scenes on the ITV soap, he is set to cause a stir when he secures a job at the hair salon, working alongside Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley). Unfortunately, as the teenager begins to feel he has finally found somewhere he feels comfortable and wanted, his family will think otherwise.

The drama kicks off next week on the weeknight serial drama as Amelia Spencer (Daisy Campbell) turns up at the salon to get a makeover for the school prom.

Mandy thinks she knows exactly what the youngster needs and sets about transforming the schoolgirl but the teenager isn’t impressed with the final result.

She implores Samson to help her so she won’t be bullied by the other children and it’s not long before he’s demonstrating what skills he has.

Sam Dingle’s (James Hooton) son only started working at the salon last year as a way of keeping him occupied instead of being sat at home all the time.

He was reluctant to work in the beauty business but it seems he has really settled in and has quickly picked up tips and tricks on how to become a beautician himself.

Pleased with his efforts in helping Amelia, the teenager is in high spirits and returns home to tell his family the good news.

However, they don’t give him the reaction he was hoping for as they reject his new sense of confidence, believing he shouldn’t be working at the salon.

Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) realises Samson is hurt by his father Sam’s rejection and offers him some words of encouragement.

It’s not long before the youngster is back at the salon but knowing how his family feel about his new career path, he could begin to contemplate his future in the Dales.

Wanting more experience in being a beautician, the teenager could look further afield for more jobs and work experience.

Chance to develop Samson’s character

Over the next few months, Samson could land himself a new role in Manchester or London working for one of the country’s biggest beauty brands.

Knowing his family will not support his decision, Samson could flee the village and not tell anyone where he is going.

Making his exit, the teenager could be gone for quite a few years as he begins to perfect the craft he has found a passion for.

Although, his disappearance would spark chaos in the village as his father Sam would be worried about where he has gone.

Making contact with Vinny, Samson could explain he left the Dales because he felt his talent was not appreciated by his family.

Sam would be hurt to think he has pushed his son away, as he was the only reminder he had of his late wife, Alice Dingle (Ursula Holden-Gill).

Upon his return to the village in a few years time, Samson could have really worked on himself and he could be a professional beautician by this point.

Having not had contact with his father for some time, the youngster would struggle to accept his apologies as the rejection hurt him to the core.

But he has become more well off than the iconic clan and feels his time in the Dales restricted him from utilising his full potential.

However, it is also the place he grew up and called home for many years so he could set up his own business in the village.

Last year, Samson and the rest of the youngsters in the village were pushed to the centre of the drama as the soap bosses wanted to show off the young talent in the cast.

The young Dingle man didn’t get a huge storyline but the actor who plays him, Sam, spoke about being given the chance to feature more in the plots unfolding.

Speaking in an interview, the soap star said: “I think it’s great to give the teenagers these storylines as it gives us a chance to film something different and show the younger people in the village.

“From the day I started everyone was so supportive and kind. Being in the Dingle family meant growing up with characters like Lisa, Zak, and Sam who are as great off-screen as they are on screen.

“With the Dingle family growing ever bigger, it gives me the chance to film with other great characters like Lydia, Vinny and Mandy.”

“As my character gets older, it gives me the opportunity to be in bigger storylines and the chance to develop Samson’s character,” he added.

This is a huge hint of what is to come for the youngster this year as he looks towards the future and carves out his path in life.

He told Metro.co.uk he was “looking forward” to what his character got up to in the years to come.

But could a break from the village give the writers time to develop Samson’s character to the next level as he breaks away from the family?

Executive producer Jane Hudson recently spoke to Express.co.uk and other media about Samson’s time in the salon and what this would mean for him going forward.

The soap boss said: “There is lots going on for the Dingles as we head into 2022.

“I think it’s really important for the show that we have stories aimed at everybody. What makes soaps different from a lot of dramas is our reach, which is teens right up to 90 plus. We’ve got a lot of viewers to keep happy.

“We’ve got some fun stuff coming up in the salon where we’ll see a new and unexpected member of staff joining the team there.”

This was an indication towards Samson becoming a full-time member of the crew but will it last long or will his venture be short and sweet and he departs in the next few months?

Emmerdale currently airs weekdays at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode airing on Thursdays at 8pm.
