Emmerdale’s Reece Dinsdale returns to soap for Vinny and Liv’s ‘surreal’ celebration supper

Reece Dinsdale made a name for himself as one of Emmerdale's dastardly baddies when he joined the ITV soap as Paul Ashdale in April 2020. However, after a harrowing addiction and abuse storyline involving Mandy (Lisa Riley) and Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson), Paul was killed off in an explosion on his wedding day.

Despite his character being sent to the Emmerdale graveyard, Reece has been back on set as a director – ironically working on the far happier union of Vinny and Liv Flaherty (Isobel Steele).

In a press conference with Lisa and Bradley, the pair opened up about what it was like to work with their former co-star on the emotional scenes.

Lisa explained: "When we filmed the celebration supper of Mandy going, 'Okay, everything is fine.' with Mandy, Paddy, Liv and Vinny… who was the director or the celebration supper? Oh, it's Reece Dinsdale!"

The latest Dingle drama has been about Vinny and Liv getting engaged and subsequently married without anyone in the family knowing.

This all comes to a head when Mandy is made aware of a letter addressed to "Mr and Mrs V Dingle."

Reminiscing on the scenes shot by her former on screen love-interest, Lisa added: "It was our first scene back together after everything – we hadn't been directed by him before – so it's like the whole year's come full circle and there he is directing us.

"Of course, he had no control over us. Not one millimetre of control," she laughed.

Lisa then turned to Bradley to ask: "What's it like with me and Dom [Brunt] on set?"

The Vinny actor confirmed the pair are "crazy " together and that "none of [them] can breathe because they're laughing so much."
