Emotional Eamonn Holmes says he is ‘praying to God’ before ‘risky’ operation

TV presenter Eamonn Holmes has confessed he is “praying to God” before undergoing a potentially life-changing operation.

The GB News star is set to undergo a vital and “risky” operation which he hopes will relieve him of the chronic pain he is suffering.

Eamonn, who is married to Loose Women star Ruth Langsford, had been getting steroid injections in his spine after surgeons decided against surgery at the last minute.

However, medics have now agreed to operate on him following an 18-month health struggle.

He told Express.co.uk: “This week a surgeon will cut into my back to hopefully relieve pressure on my sciatic nerves.

“It’s an operation that carries a 20 percent risk of going wrong, but such is the pain and restrictions that I have been suffering for the past 18 months, I’ve decided it is a risk I am willing to take.”

Eamonn, 62, went on to say that he is willing to take the risk because “at this moment in time, nothing could seem worse than the constant pain that runs through my lower back and legs.”

Eamonn admitted that he sought comfort in his followers on social media during sleepless nights when he would often communicate with others suffering from chronic pain.

“the response was just as overwhelming. It’s sad to think that so many are alone in their pain capsule,” he said.

The former This Morning presenter admitted that he is praying to God ahead of the operation and hopes to go back to his pain-free life.

He added: “Pray that God will guide my surgeon’s hand this week and help me get back to the man I used to be. I am hoping that this will be a “Back to the Future” procedure and that I go back to the way I was 18 months ago.

The Irish star is scheduled to have the vital surgery on Wednesday

He finished by telling fans he will be taking time off to recover and wishing luck to those who are also suffering: “I want my back fixed and my life back.

"I want to offer a good luck story to all of you who feel that you can no longer deal with your depression, your crying, your anger and that constant question of “why me ?””
