The drama kicked off when Norma Crow reached out to Cindy, expressing her desire to spend Christmas with her granddaughter, Ella, as she considered herself a part of the family now. This turned into a heated argument between Norma and Cindy, as Cindy was determined to have Ella with her and Dave for the holidays. The commotion reached its peak, and Ella entered the room, where Dave implored her to make a choice.

When Norma urged Ella to spend time with her father, Warren Fox, Ella was quick to remind everyone that Warren had yet to fully accept her as his biological daughter. Norma tried to justify Warren's absence, saying he had been occupied, but Ella wasn't having any of it. In an attempt to win Ella over to her side, Cindy faced her own share of criticism from the teen.
