The life of the offspring of Hollywood Finest most definitely has its advantages. Though growing up in the limelight isn’t always easy, it does come with certain perks. The kids of stars get to live glamorous lives, attend lavish parties, and walk red carpets. They also likely get to meet tons of A-list celebrities. Over the years, many stars with famous parents have opened up about what their life was like growing up in the spotlight, including Zoe Kravitz and Nicole Richie, who both recalled being surrounded by famous people… all the time. The Big Little Lies star, daughter of rockstar Lenny Kravitz and actress Lisa Bonet, shared with Elle in 2018, “There was, of course, a bunch of extraordinary parts: being surrounded by extraordinary people, going to extraordinary places.” As for Lionel Richie’s adopted daughter, she said in a conversation with her dad for Huffington Post in 2016: “There were a lot of people around is what I do remember. There were people in and out of the house, you know, pretty much all the time, but now that I’m older and I’m in this business, I get it.” (Some of them included Michael Jackson and Prince.)
It turns out, actor and comedian Eddie Murphy’s many, many children have had similar experiences as his daughter Bella recently revealed her dad once surprised her with a visit from none other than Leonardo DiCaprio. To promote their new movie, Coming 2 America, Eddie Murphy and his daughter, Bella Murphy, appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on March 2, 2021, where the young star discussed what it was like growing up with her famous dad. She recalled the specific moment Leonardo DiCaprio showed up to her house during one of the comedian’s parties and how ill-prepared she was for the encounter. “I forgot that famous people sometimes show up to my dad’s parties, so I was very unprepared,” Bella explained, adding, “I was in the dining room in my pajamas, and then all of a sudden Jimmy Kimmel started walking through the door, and then all these other big celebrities. And then Leonardo DiCaprio walked through the door and I started freaking out.”
It was later revealed that the Oscar-winning actor’s visit was a total surprise. Bella continued, “I think my dad knew that Leonardo DiCaprio was coming but he didn’t tell me, because he wanted it to be a surprise.” Eddie explained that all his daughters “love DiCaprio,” so the surprise was for all of them. Bella added, “I immediately ran upstairs and told my sister, and we came downstairs and I just lingered around him all night like a weirdo and stared at him.” Despite what must have been a bit of awkwardness, Bella agreed with Ellen’s guess that “[Leo] was great with [her].”
