Kevin Smith reveals he’s been rushed to hospital after suffering ‘massive heart attack’

DIRECTOR Kevin Smith revealed today that he almost died after suffering a “massive heart attack.”

The 47-year-old Clerks, Dogma and Jay and Silent Bob star tweeted a selfie from his hospital bed, covered in tubes and shared how cancelling his show saved his life.

He wrote: “After the first show this evening, I had a massive heart attack. The Doctor who saved my life told me I had 100% blockage of my LAD artery (aka “the Widow-Maker”).

“If I hadn’t canceled show 2 to go to the hospital, I would’ve died tonight. But for now, I’m still above ground!”

The filmmaker, actor and author had performed a show in Oxnard, California, on Sunday and was due to take to the stage for a second time that evening.

After his post fans sent an outpouring of well-wishes.

Writer Sean Francis wrote: “I keep reading this in shock. Damn. It’s an understatement to say, but myself and so many others are glad you cancelled and are recovering. Sending love to you and yours.”

Minions writer Brian Lynch tweeted: “Oh my god. Wishing you the speediest and most painless recovery. Love you, buddy”

Film star Patricia Arquette posted: “Scary! Glad you’re ok.”

And fan Stormcrow sent: “Love and positivity coming your way. You are in my top 5 favorite film makers of all time. Get well soon man. After all the hard times your movies helped me through I wish there was something more that I could do for you. Rest up.”
