What happened at the end of Line of Duty season 6?

Evidence of Gail Vela’s murderer is discovered

In the previous episode, DCI Kate Fleming (Vicky McClure) said she wanted to concrete floor of the OCG workshop dug up to see if there was anything underneath.

They found a box that contained numerous knives including two which were used by Pc Ryan Pilkington (Gregory Piper) to kill both Pc Maneet Bindra (Maya Sondhi) and another to murder John Corbett (Stephen Graham).

A pistol was also in there which had Gail Vela’s blood on it and the DNA of OCG member Carl Banks on the trigger.

This was the evidence they needed to prove once and for all that it was really Carl who killed Gail and not Terry Boyle (Tommy Jessop) who was being framed.

At the end, it was shown Terry had been moved into a new home by social services.

Jo Davidson goes into Witness Protection

Jo was being taken by corrupt prison guards somewhere where their van could be raided by OCG members who would then take her away.

But luckily, AC-12 were following them and were able to intercept the van just in time, so when the criminals went to try and grab Jo, it was Kate and Steve inside, ready to make the arrests.

Jo was grateful for their help and in exchange for revealing that the corrupt officer she believed was her dad was Patrick Fairbank, she was put into the Witness Protection Programme.

She was last seen at an undisclosed location with a new girlfriend and a dog.

H is revealed

DC Chloe Bishop (Shalom Brune-Franklin) had done some digging into any previous police records with the spelling “definately”.

This incorrect spelling was known to be used by H and with this, they were able to find out their identity.

To AC-12’s frustration, it was revealed that Detective Superintendent Ian Buckells (Nigel Boyle) who was the Fourth Man who simply did it for the money.

He referred to them all as mugs but at the end of the interview, he realised he wouldn’t be able to get immunity or go into witness protection, whether he confessed or not to his involvement in Gail Vela’s murder.

Kate to rejoin AC-12

Over a friendly catch up drink, Kate said how her, DI Steve Arnott (Martin Compston) and Detective Superintendent Ted Hastings (Adrian Dunbar) were likely to be kicked out by Detective Chief Superintendent Patricia Carmichael) if she was to come back.

Steve then asked if she was going to and Kate teased how someone needed to keep an eye on them.

So it looks like if Line of Duty does return, Kate will be rejoining AC-12 to catch corrupt officers once again.

Steve has meeting regarding his painkiller addiction

For several episodes, Steve had been avoiding the medical team after having a drugs test.

But he reluctantly had the meeting where he was told he wasn’t going to be suspended and that they were more concerned with his welfare.

However, his firearms license had been taken from him as a result.

Ted confesses to his part in John Corbett murder

Ted told both Kate and Steve how he had told Lee Banks in prison that there was an informant in the OCG which led to Corbett’s death.

He thought Corbett would have to run back to the police but instead, he was killed which Ted regrets.

So much so that he did keep behind £50,000 from the money he was given in season five and gave it to Corbett’s wife Steph (Amy De Bhrún).

Ted had been forced to reassign but said how he was going to appeal the decision.

Before he left the office though, Ted confessed to Carmichael (Anna Maxwell Martin) about inadvertently telling Banks about Corbett.

So what will the new head of AC-12 do with this information and will Ted return?
