Love Island viewers have hit out at Jessie Wynter as they claimed the Aussie bombshell is “playing a game” after she asked Will to be her boyfriend during their final date together.
The 26 year old star surprised fans at home as she made the bold request during a barn dance themed date ahead of the show’s final on Monday, just moments after Will Young had confessed that he had fallen in love with her.
During the touching moment, Jessie then turned the tables as she admitted she had a question she had been hoping to ask the young farmer, before promptly asking him if he was willing to take their relationship to the next level to become boyfriend and girlfriend.
Clearly taken aback by the news but undeniably elated, Will accepted the proposal, with the couple then becoming an ‘official’ item in the villa.
However fans at home weren’t nearly so impressed by the development, with several even accusing Jessie of ‘playing a game’ rather than having any serious or sincere feelings towards the lovestruck farmer.
One unimpressed fan tweeted: "Jessie's the biggest game player.”
Another said: "DID JESS JUST ASK WILL TO BE HER BOYFRIEND?"
A third said: "Not Jessie asking Will to be his boyfriend now.”
Another fan also called Jessie out for her elaborate kiss, in which she lifted her leg in a dramatic romantic cliche for all to see.
They added: "Leg lifting??? GAME PLAN.”
The comments come just days ahead of next week’s final, which will see the winners of Love Island Winter 2023 crowned and rewarded with an impressive cash prize worth £50,000.
Ahead of the finale, the remaining couples were whisked off onto a variety of spectacular dates, with Jessie and Will in particular being treated to a barn dance for their romantic send-off, complete with plenty of music and a fair few guests to mingle with.
Arriving at the rural location, Jessie was the first to spot the wildlife nearby, with horses, chickens and goats all there to greet the young lovebirds.
“This literally looks like my home in Australia!” She exclaimed.
The couple then headed inside to a decorated barn where they engaged in a toe-tapping barn dance, before toasting their blossoming relationship.
Dressed in denim and looking every bit the cowboy, Will admitted to Jessie that he had fallen head over heels for her during their brief courtship in the villa, and even likened their date to the romance between his mum and dad.
He said: “It’s like a massive reminder of home because my mum and dad would talk about barn dances and I’ve never been to one, so experiencing it with you is such a magical moment.”
Jessie also got sentimental, telling Will: "I’ve had the best time here with you, I didn’t think I’d meet someone that I’d fall in love with so hard.
"You’ve been so supportive of me the whole way through, I want you to know how special you are to me.”
Love Island continues at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX
