NCIS: Los Angeles Season 13 is on the way. Soon, we’ll be able to pick up where we left off with Sam, Callen, Deeks, Kensi, and the rest of the team. Here’s when NCIS: Los Angeles Season 13 airs.

‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ Season 13 is currently filming

It seems like yesterday that NCIS: Los Angeles Season 12 wrapped. However, the new season is already filming. Caleb Castille, who plays Agent Devin Roundtree, posted an update on TikTok. He filmed the inside of his trailer, video of himself in the makeup chair, and views of the Paramount lot. It’s just a matter of time before we see Roundtree and Fatima (Medalion Rahimi) back in action.

When does ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ Season 13 air?

Unfortunately, the series will air later than expected. NCIS: Los Angeles Season 13 premieres on CBS Sunday, October 10, at 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time. NCIS is set to premiere during its new time on Monday, September 20, at 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time. NCIS: Hawai’i premieres (also on Monday, September 20) at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ Season 12 ended on a high note

One thing you likely noticed was that NCIS: Los Angeles Season 12 ended on a positive note. A TV season finale typically ends with a shocking cliffhanger. Someone is usually in danger, and we’re left wondering if one of the main characters will make it out alive. The Chicago Fire Season 9 finale is a perfect example.

This year, NCIS: Los Angeles didn’t follow the typical blueprint. Instead, the season 12 finale was quite upbeat. Showrunner R. Scott Gemmill tells TV Line he didn’t want an emotionally heavy season finale because many people were still recovering from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Well, it wasn’t what we were going to do, that’s for sure,” says Gemmill. “We were going to use the finale that we had written for last season, which got bumped because of COVID, and then we realized everyone had such a tough, s****y year, that we couldn’t in good conscience put the fans through any more trauma. So, we decided to go in the exact opposite way and do a fun, feel-good episode that leaves everyone happy and hopeful for what is coming down the line.”

‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ cast changes

The end of NCIS: Los Angeles Season 12 was a shocker for many fans. Both Nell Jones (Renée Felice Smith) and Eric Beale (Barrett Foa) decided to leave the NCIS LA office. Gemmill tells TV Line that Smith and Foa had other projects outside the series, and he wanted to give them time and space to pursue their interests.

“Both Renée and Barrett have been on the show a long time, and they’re both very ambitious individuals who have projects that they want to do on their own — and we’ve been giving them time off to do so,” says Gemmill. “It seemed like a natural time to let them go off and do some other things and give [their characters] what is a happy, hopefully, ending.”

NCIS: Los Angeles also had a cast addition. It was announced Gerald McRaney will become a cast regular. McRaney has had a recurring role as Admiral Hollace Kilbride since 2014. He reprised his role during NCIS: Los Angeles Season 12. He had a big role that season, advising Nell Jones while she took over as acting operations manager for Hetty Lange (Linda Hunt).
