Outlander fans are concerned about William in Outlander

Outlander season 7 episode 8 trailer

Starz’s hit time travel series Outlander is on a week’s hiatus this week but fans are still eager to know more about the characters in the meantime.

Season seven saw the introduction of an adult William Ransom (played by Charles Vandervaart), the secret love child of Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan).

Wide-eyed William was ready to go into war but had a brutal baptism of fire as he quickly learned the price of iron and blood over peaceful negotiations.

Does William Ransom die in Outlander?

William saw one of his fellow brothers-in-arms perish right next to him, making the young man realize the true cost of war.

He will now be continuing to fight in the second battle of Saratoga, which unknown to William his father Jamie is also participating in.

Given the precarious and dangerous world of Outlander, it looks like William could face death.

Audiences have already seen him nearly lose an arm during his adventure in the Great Dismal.

Thankfully, Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander novels shed light on what becomes of the ninth earl of Ellesmere.

In the novels, William is still very much alive and part of the story, which suggests he could lead a long life.

William is very much a presence in the eighth novel Written in My Own Heart’s Blood, which is expected to serve as the source material for the TV show.

Moreover, William is present in the ninth novel Go Tell The Bees That I Am Gone, which again suggests has has managed to survive the war for now.

Gabaldon is working on the 10th novel, which is slated to be the last outing, and again fans will have to wait and see if William can make it to the end of the book.

The American Revolutionary War is expected to continue but hopefully Jamie and William will eventually get some time together as father and son.

Season seven is expected to also address William’s true paternity with the revelation likely to have devastating consequences on the British soldier, who believes he’s the son of an English aristocrat rather than a Jacobite rebel.

Brianna Fraser (Sophie Skelton) already broached the subject of William being told the truth about his father but Lord John Grey (David Berry) forbids it.

But as book readers know, the truth is eventually going to come out in some form or another.
